Toku Modern Asian Manhasset Reviews from The Last Year
Wow delicious in every bite.
Prepare to pay high prices and wait even if you have a reservation as this place is very very popular
Most tasteless experience ever
I’m so disappointed in my experience at toku last night. I love toku & their food but yesterday our entrees were just not at the quality we’re usually used to. We come here all the time but after yesterday I will not be coming here again & will be letting everyone know of my experience here. So here’s the story: We didn’t like our entrees & the entire time the bus boy was eyeing us down to take our plates since we weren’t eating it. We were waiting for the waiter but since the bus boy asked us multiple times if we were done I finally told him “we didn’t like it but if you want to take it sure” we assumed he would do his job & tell his peer (our waiter) that we barely touched our food. Our waiter finally came over & asked if we wanted any dessert & we said no ty, immediately we got the check when we didn’t even ask for it. The check included the entrees we barely touched. Everyone knows if you come to toku you can expect to bare minimum spend 3-400 at dinner so we never have a problem spending money here but they expected us to pay for food we didn’t like. I go out to eat all the time & do promos for businesses all the time & I have never in my life been to a restaurant that has tried to charge me for food I didn’t like. Nonetheless I requested a manager to come over & I explained that we didn’t like the food & we were still going to have drinks so he said “well see what we can do”. We had more drinks & then the final check came which still had the food we didn’t consume so basically the manager did absolutely nothing nor did he bother to even come back to tell us he wasn’t adjusting the bill. So when the final check came we told the waiter that he didn’t take out the entrees & the waiter proceeded to tell us that he wasn’t going to take it off & that the bus boy had told them that we ate most of it which was a complete lie. Then the waiter proceeded to tell us we should’ve told him, that now it’s a she said he said situation… like why would I tell them I didn’t like the food if I did? The purpose of going out to eat is TO EAT. Then he told us “can you just pay the check so we can get this over with” lol we were literally baffled & I told him no & to get the manager back over. A different manager came to the table & basically asked us what we didn’t like about the food & then told us he wasn’t going to take it off that we should’ve told him from the start. Mind you we explained that the bus boy was insisting on taking our plates, he was eyeing us down the entire time so he took the plates & I let him know “we didn’t like it” he then told me that the bus boy probably didn’t understand & I’m not sure how that’s supposed to be my fault. If I knew he only spoke Spanish then I would’ve told him in Spanish. So he said well we’re not taking it off your bill & I said well we’re not paying for the entrees we didn’t eat & he told us he was going to call the cops so we waited. The waiter came back to harass us for the check & I said well the manager said he was calling the cops so we’re waiting for the cops. Keep in mind we have a newborn & came out for dinner because it’s been a rough week & all we wanted was good dinner & service. Little did we know that we were going to get threatened with the cops because we didn’t like the food they served us. They kept questioning us about the food, why we didn’t like it, why we didn’t tell them, why this & why that. After a while the cops never came but the manager returned & said you know what since you have a baby we won’t call the cops lol which I had absolutely no problem with the cops coming. I also told them to check the cameras because there was one right over us so they could’ve easily seen the interaction with us telling the bus boy we didn’t like the food & how much we consumed. Once they corrected the check we paid the check and were discussing how much tip we should leave the waiter if anything because he treated us like criminals in a upscale restaurant! I guess if you aren’t white in this place you can’t dislike food or send it back cause they’ll think you can’t afford it. The waiter came back & said I just want to make sure you didn’t want to leave any tip & I grabbed my bag & said actually I did want to leave you tip & he’s like well hurry up because I have to go lol so I kindly put my purse down & told him actually go ahead & go home cause with that attitude you or toku will never get my money or business again. we go to cippolinis every Sunday and they would never treat us that way so it’s surprising to know that they work under the same management. i will be reaching out to a higher up to discuss my terrible experience. I never felt so embarrassed & low. the amount of business we have given these businesses to get treated that way just because we didn’t like our food. it’s tasteless.

good food & even better service! it's a local spot that i visit often with friends and/or family and it never disappoints!
Good Food
This has been my go to place for a while, the dumplings, yellowtail, beef and broccoli, and roast pork fried rice is amazing. The food is consistent and always tastes so good. It’s the service that has recently dropped from what it use to be. I will still come back, but I’ll sit at the bar next time.
Definitely a go to spot for lunch or dinner ! Been here
Definitely a go to spot for lunch or dinner ! Been here many times and it never disappoints. From the great sushi selection to delicious appetizers and entrees, you'll leave here very satisfied. Please try their crispy rice as it's one of the favorites. Great apps are teriyaki burger sliders, pork buns, Kobe grilled skewers and any sushi choice. Must try their toku fries as it's served to perfection ! Another entree favorite wagyu steak frites and sweet soy marinated skirt steak. Cocktails are also very delicious and service is good. Its ambience is very lively and more on the loud side. Location is in the Americana mall therefore a great spot after shopping.
Fun venue, lively atmosphere.
A nice mix of families, couples and groups of friends. Very attentive service and very large menu. We opted for sliders, pork buns, sushi, chicken veg soup and yakisoba. Weakest link was the pork bun- would definitely skip this next time. Sliders were fine and very filling. Great sushi. My daughter loved the soup and noodles. Would def return to try more menu offerings. Around 6pm we were able to stroll in but my 630-7, place was packed.
Came here for a weekday girl's night.
Made a reservation the day before without any issues, but probably could have walked in as well. I have also been here a few other times for work gatherings. Overall a very fancy place as it is also located in a very upscale shopping center. The restaurant has a nice ambiance; it's dark, well decorated, very classy, great for a professional dinner. The service was very nice, waiters were attentive, overall no negative feelings about the service at all. We received the wrong flavor of ice cream for dessert from what we ordered and they gave us an extra scoop for free, which was appreciated. The food was pretty good, definitely a lot of varieties, so if your friends/family are of all different backgrounds and have different food preferences, this is a great place to be. We had the rock shrimp and it was delicious! Loved the creaminess of the sauce. The salads were very good portions, larger than what I expected, sushi was pretty standard. Overall, I feel that Toku excels in their ambiance and presentation more so than the actual food taste, which depending on what you get can be pretty standard; but the variety and environment are what draws me and my colleagues here all the time!

Great service and vibe in the restaurant, but the food is terrible. Mediocre food, small portions, hefty prices, and somehow tastes worse than a chinese takeout place. Very bland and basic.

I visited Toku in Manhaset last night and left thoroughly disappointed. While the food was passable, the host's attitude was absolutely appalling. Their disgustingly rude demeanor ruined what could have been a decent dining experience. Save your money and sanity, folks. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.

I rather shop in-person for food than luxury goods but my favorite Aunties love designer gifts so Americana Manhasset, a luxurious open-air shopping center in Manhasset, Long Island is the perfect solution. I can spoil my Aunties and eat steak at Toku Modern Asian, a win-win! Steak bliss! Toku Modern Asian's A5 Japan Wagyu, highest-quality Japanese steak, is an impeccably marbled, rich and indulgent steak rockstar! Toku is as sleek, modern and has a Pan-Asian and/or Steakhouse menu as TAO and STK Steakhouse but clearly better food. My fave Luxury EV startup and Tesla rival, Lucid Motors- technologically impressive and 60% owned by Saudi Arabia- is nearby in Americana Manhasset, fun to take a look. Americana Manhasset's name makes me think of Taylor Swift's documentary 'Miss Americana' - weirdly. Nothing beats the flawless coffee and chocolate croissants at Ralph's Coffee, located in the Ralph Lauren Store, also at Americana Manhasset.
Horrible service. Manager Carolyn called me a liar over a sauce
Drove all the way from Bellmore to Order perking duck and salmon meal, and wasn’t given any perking duck sauce. I called back to explain to the manager Carolyna and she racial profiled me and called me a liar, saying I had sauce in the bag when I didn’t. Why would I lie about sauce. Spent $90 on two orders and carolyna the manager made me feel horrible. I will never return to this place again. Service like this there bound to go out of business with this kind of management.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice
Was able to snag an indoor table at Don Angie through an absolutely seamless worry-free process.
Worked perfectly, thank you!
This is a crazy holiday season in NYC and I was very pleasantly surprised to see that AppointmentTrader works! Will be using again!
Worked flawlessly!
Worked so well! I was a bit nervous, but everything went very smoothly. purchased the reservation, and got into the restaurant seamlessly.
Love this app!
So glad I came across this app :)
Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here
Prime time, great meal
So easy and had a prime time which I can never seem to get on normal res apps. So worth it
Got impossible NYC res
instead of waiting weeks I got my 4 charles reservation instantly
Worked perfectly to get into Carbone. So delighted
perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome
to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
