I love this spot.
Consistently the best cocktails in the City--not too sweet, fun and interesting new takes on classics but never so over-loaded with bells and whistles that you can't taste what you're drinking. And decently strong. Wine and liquor selection is also quite nice. Bar food that is vegetable-forward? Yes, please! Friendly, welcoming atmosphere. We aren't fancy people. We both work grimy jobs. Sometimes we come here in our greasy Carhartts and our stained pants and we feel perfectly welcome, but it also fits the bill for a "fancy" meal worth putting on your lashes and good heels for.

Yikes, came to try their patty melt and the fried hen of the woods mushrooms since I kept hearing such great things. But considering taste and price, this place is seriously overhyped. Each item essentially costs $20, so after spending close to $65 on an appetizer, burger, and drink, we left this place hungry and disappointed. You can't even tell that the fried mushrooms contained mushrooms. The pieces were so thin that it just tasted like fried batter. And the sour cream dipping sauce didn't help because the flavor was overpowering. You could replicate this appetizer by buying a bag of sour cream Lays. As for the burger, it was juicy, and the sauce tasted fine, but nothing an In-n-Out burger couldn't compete with. Good to try once, but I don't think it's worth a revisit.

expensive pretentious drinks with sprigs of foraged leaves from the sidewalk. If you want to feel what sf has become over the years, this is it.

Came here for a birthday celebration for a friend and we rented out the private bar section, which was perfect for the large group that we were in. The food was excellent and the drinks were delicious. What's great about the reserved bar section is that you have your own waiter/bartender. Would highly recommend for a birthday or any celebration.
Be the first to ReplyHave been here for dinner many times, but decided to come
Have been here for dinner many times, but decided to come for brunch, and was happy I did. I think the best part about this place is there isn't a huge bunch line, and the food was pretty good! TL GRILLED CHEESE AND OMELETTE SANDWICH 2.0 ($16): Ginger + Sage Sausage Smash Patty, Fluffy Omelette, Melty Cheese, Giardiniera Spread on Toasted Pain de Mie. This sandwich was yummy and the fluffy omelette paired really well with the sausage patty. But I think I enjoyed the patty melt more. TL PATTY MELT ($18): Griddled Dry-Aged Antique Beef Ground in House, Melty Cheese, Caramelized Onion Special Sauce, Pickles, on Beef Fat Pain de Mie. I honestly could've eaten like 4-5 of these, they were so small. But it tasted really good if you like patty melts. I gobbled it up so quickly I don't remember much. TOCINO SILOG ($18): Sweet-Cured Fried Pork, Garlic Rice, Fried Egg, Cucumber, Shallots, Scallions. I thought this dish could've been better, it was a bit lacking in the garlic flavor, and I felt like the cucumbers should've been pickled in vinegar to make it a bit more authentic Filipino flavored. I did really enjoy their spicy vinegar side, next time I'll definitely ask for more spicy vinegar. SOURDOUGH FRENCH TOAST ($16): Caramelized Pineapple, Pecans, Whipped Cream Cheese. This one was my least favorite dish, the caramelized pineapples along with the sourdough just made this way too sour / tart for my liking. AMBIANCE: Bar vibes with good food, looks very cute inside, however there's not a lot of seating, and for dinner it's hard to get a table. But was so happy to see them allow walk-ins on a Saturday morning. I hate having to make reservations for brunch, so this place is perfect for me! I'll definitely be back!
Be the first to Reply4 stars for food and service.
Parklet seating was in a dark street but still was a nice ambiance. It's a quiet street too, so you can enjoy the outdoors while still being able to hear your company. The cocktail menu the night we went didn't have any tequila cocktails, and they couldn't make a paloma. But they made a tequila gimlet that tasted like a margarita in a fancy glass. The cocktails were pricey too for a menu we didn't find anything we loved. The table didn't like our drinks, but the food was a hit! The melt was delicious! The fried mushrooms were addicting. The gem salad had a lot of dill which I didn't love, but if you love dill then you'd love it. The service was friendly and patient with us which added to the experience. I'd probably come back for their food, but not for a night out focused on cocktails.
Be the first to ReplyWe came here because trip dog was too crowded.
It was spacious and their martini was unique. Highly recommend for a friday night if you don't want a crowded place but more chill vibes that you can enjoy your drink and talk!
Be the first to ReplyI love this bar.
It is one of my absolute favourite bars in the city. It's beautiful, the servers and bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable, and the inside has an elevated yet cozy look and feel to it. Every time I come, the cocktails are excellent! Balanced, well-crafted; everything I want and expect them to be. They have a decent but not extensive selection of liquors and liqueurs, but all the bartenders I have had have made great things with what's available! The on-menu drinks are pretty good, with a few that are really fantastic, but the off-menu classics that I have ordered are what I've been most impressed by. The snacks are good too; definitely try the crispy mushrooms! Nothing here disappoints!

Was really impressed by the food and cocktails! We ordered the green goddess salad, mushrooms, crevice, and pork belly. Their vegetarian dishes were outstanding, flavors that really worked together. The pork belly and crevice were fine. Nothing out of the ordinary but still very yummy. Not necessarily filling portions, but also maybe because we just got small bites to share. Am aiming to come back to try their brunch and new items on the dinner menu.
Be the first to ReplyGood happy hour / drinks + small plates vibe.
We got the mushrooms and sweet potatoes. I just did a glass of wine. It's pretty small so make a res or get there early.

This is a gem! Really friendly staff and a chill vibe with good music in the background. I had the TL Patty Melt with the added Beef Fat Sizzled Egg. Yum! My Filipino friend had the Tocino Silog. I know it was damn fine because he didn't say a word and he ate slower than I've ever seen. His word: Saraaaap!

Be the first to ReplyCame for the weekend brunch! I got the duck confit hash.
The egg was perfectly runny yum yum It was a little salty but if I had a drink, I think it would have been the right amt of salt (not legal yet lol). nice interior and vibes ~
Be the first to ReplyBasically everything was a 5/5.
Ambiance - very modern inside with bar seating and tables. We came when there was an event so had to sit outside. At first I was dreading it because it was so cold that evening but their outdoor heaters worked really well and the cold didn't bother me. Service- standard. Not bad but not amazing. Our server was able to remember our orders (4 of us) without writing it down. Food- definitely not a "come here for dinner" place but they do have small bites that go well with their drinks. must get the pate and bread. Incredibly great balance of flavors with the pate and the apple spread. Also their bread is really good quality and toasted with the best amount of butter. Also got the curry squash which was delicious and flavorful (does have a little spice kick though) Drinks- the drinks were all really good. My favorite was the Mai o Mai- amazing balance of flavors and the alcohol didn't kick you in the face. The pine was really strong but my partner loved it. The high ball was surprisingly really good to me (I normally don't like dark liqueur based drinks) and had almost Coca-Cola flavor. Also tried the grandmas something (can't remember anymore but had lavender) and if you like lavender you'll like this one. Definitely would recommend asking your server for drink suggestions if alcohol content is important in your drinks as some drink easy and some have a punch. We tried 8 drinks overall and all were loved.Overall will definitely be back!
Be the first to ReplyIt's been a while since I came here.
This is my 3rd time now I think. The drinks are always good here. I got the highball cocktail & my bf had a milk washed cocktail, forgot the names. Both drinks were perfect. DO get the crispy mushroom appetizer. It was paired with a sour cream and onion dipping sauce, so bomb. We sat outside and it was pretty chilly. They have lamps but I don't think they're turned on til night. I had my dog with me & they gave me a little water bowl for him. Overall the service was good & I'll definitely be back.
Be the first to ReplyFood: small snacks with drinks.
Ceviche was the best that we got, though butternut squash was pretty good too. The mushrooms and bar nuts were underwhelming. This place is really just for drinks, with a large list of different types. Settled for the two nonalcoholic cocktails on the menu. The Spice and Everything Nice had a good balance of flavors that I would recommend. The Salted Grapefruit Spritz was a bit forgettable. Service: service was good until end. Waitress rushed us out when we were near finishing our drinks. Ambiance: lots of tables that are pretty isolated. Good to come with a group of 4.
Be the first to ReplyGreat neighborhood restaurant and bar just to chill with
Great neighborhood restaurant and bar just to chill with friends, and take a date to. The vibe is laid back and relaxing. I love the concept of having two bars, a large one up front, and a smaller cozy one in the back. The main dining floor plan is small, open, yet comfortable. The service is prompt, and friendly. The cocktails are beautiful, creative and delicious. What they're known for is the 'TL patty melt.' A must try if you're a grilled cheese and burger fan. Griddled dry age antique ground with caramelized onions, melted cheese, house made special sauce grilled to crispy golden brown perfection. Another standout is the Blistered Brussels with Calabrian chili vinaigrette.

Be the first to ReplyTrue Laurel has been consistently rated among top cocktail
True Laurel has been consistently rated among top cocktail bars in SF, and many of my friends speak highly of the drinks here so I had to give them a try. Service was great, we only waited a few min Fri evening for bar seats. Space is quite tight indoors but they were very well organized. Spotless bathrooms with a nice fragrant is definitely a olus. We ordered:- In the Pines, under the Palms: 4/5 lots of vermouth and marashino, comes premixed in a small bottle with redwood tips. - Mai o Mai: 5/5, one of the best cocktails I've had, very well balanced with some coffee rum notes. Incredible.- Spice & Everything Nice: 4/5, great for being a NA cocktail, not very spice but somewhat tart/sweet, not sure I'd pay $16 for a few of these but good to try.

Stopped by for a late night bite and got the crispy hen of mushrooms and now understand why they are famous for them! So crispy and yummy with a delicious sauce. I would 100% buy the sauce if they sold it! Definitely want to go back and try dinner sometime.
Be the first to ReplyGeez this place updates cocktails pretty often.
Clarified Cocktail review: Sagan Summer: Bourban, House Peach cordial, Riseling Auslese, Manzanilla, Bitters This one is certainly a favorite. Great first light drink compared to Mai O Mai. Carry on my wayward plum: Silvovitz, Plum, Caraway, Madeira, Orchard Brandy, Golden Balsamic Both great clarified cocktails. Apparently a different process than using milk, but they didn't want to explain the process further. Probably will have to check in every 2 weeks to see whats new. Pisco Kid is already rotated off.
Be the first to ReplyTrue laurel is truly the gift that keeps on giving.
I keep landing up in this area of the mission with grand plans to try another bar (trick dog, lost resort, madam race car, etc) but keep coming back here cause it never disappoints! Their cocktail menu is seasonal - but literally always delivers. My latest obsession is the melons triple lindy - if you happen to go here while this is still in season, definitely get it. Every flavor, right down to the pickled watermelon garnish is absolutely on point. Also, the food is ridiculously good - not at all what you expect at a bar (thanks lazy bear!). The mushrooms are an obvious and easy win - but the pea falafel was another absolute standout. Additionally, the TL patty melt is ridiculously good if you eat meat. Small in portion but heavy and soooo delicious. Love this place!
Be the first to ReplyI just LOVE True Laurel.
From the delicious food, great staff, and fun cocktails it's our go to place for a date night. Food: We get the bar nuts and crispy hen of the woods every time, but the last time we were there we got the pork belly lettuce cups on the servers recommendation and we just loved it.Drinks: IN THE PINES, UNDER THE PALMS!!! We get this every time. I have not had a drink I don't like from here.Service: The best. So friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. They seem so excited about the food and the drinks, so it's fun seeing what they like to eat here.~Ambiance~: The inside is a bit cramped and loud. It's also VERY beautiful. If you are going for a more lively night, it's very fun! The outside is really cute, and better for a date night. They really try to keep you warm with the heaters, but I would def bundle up.
