Lovely family dinner !
We had booked our table for a larger party and this was the right way to do. This restaurant is so well rated that it's always full. Do not expect a lucky walk in... Our dinner was excellent, service was great. Nothing to complain about. I can fairly recommend TRUMMER's.

As you can see from my prior reviews this is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. I was last here the Friday before Christmas in December 2023. I returned here with my family of five. I booked my 6 pm reservation on OpenTable. This time we were seated at a very nice large table in the main dining room, which I prefer. I love their main dining room rather than their upstairs dining room. I started with and enjoyed my Pain & Pleasure cocktail with tequila, curacao, hibiscus, lime and Jalapeno for $16. The ice ball was made with Jalapeno. I also enjoyed my Tuesday special duck breast with bourbon jus for $36. Amanda J. served us very well. My total bill was $279 excluding gratuity. I will return here for dinner or happy hour.

I went with a friend to sample some seasonal (Christmas) cocktails, and enjoyed it so much I returned the following night with my husband for dinner! Although I'm not a cocktail person they are excellent here, as is their wine list. The food is all perfectly prepared and the service outstanding.

Trummer’s on Main has been here for many years. Trummer’s is a playground of memorable cuisine showcasing the diverse agricultural community of Virginia. Farm to table is the key here. They offer superb service, Virginia’s largest and most comprehensive wine program and a stunning ambiance await at Trummer’s. Set amongst the charming horse farm setting of Clifton, Virginia, Trummer’s is one of the region’s most outstanding dining experiences. Victoria and Stefan Trummer became the first New York restauranteurs to open a dining destination in Clifton. Located on Main Street in a historic town born out of the Civil War, Trummer’s is the creation of the husband and wife team, combining “small town charm with fabulous food and attentive service generally found in big food cities.” Their main dining room is a bright & airy destination for American cuisine with a bar doling out craft cocktails & wine. The menu features seasonal dishes with a focus on fresh, local ingredients. The service is friendly and attentive, without being overbearing. The staff is knowledgeable about the menu. Overall, Trummer's Restaurant is an upscale dining experience. I was last here in 2016 to enjoy both brunches and dinners. As you can see from my prior reviews, my family mostly enjoyed our meals here in the past. We were here most recently on Friday prior to Christmas 2023 with my family of five for a 4:45 pm dinner reservation, which I booked on Open Table. It was the only available dinner reservation other than 8:45 pm. When we entered the bar area was hopping for happy hour. We took the elevator up to the third floor. We were the first table to be seated upstairs on the third floor. I prefer eating downstairs in their main dining room. They did not offer their regular menu. It was a special limited holiday menu. See my pics of the menu. I started with their signature Titanic cocktail for $15. I ended my dinner with their “Down the Chai-mney”, with bourbon, chai, lemon and vanilla cream for $14. Both cocktails were unusual and interesting. We shared the cranberry focaccia with rosemary olive oil for $6. Their focaccia was not so interesting or tasty. I have had better focaccia at other restaurants. I enjoyed my beef wellington with an interesting creamed spinach and gaufrettes potatoes for $52. My total bill was $373 excluding gratuity. Colvin F. served our table very well. We agreed we will return here hopefully to dine in their downstairs main dining room as we have done in the past.

We continue our visits here - On November 14, I treated my wife to another great dinner here for her birthday. As usual, Stefan (the owner) was more than happy to help us get seated (moved us to a more comfortable area). Logan was our waiter who was polite, courteous and very attentive for whatever we needed. My wife had the duck, while I had the halibut - both tasted delish! We missed out the Prime Rib, which I think is only served on Fridays. Stefan also provided us with a complimentary glass of champagne for my wife, along with a side dish, pumpkin crème brûlée (very tasty) and some pumpkin cupcakes. They really do make you feel like part of the family there. If you close by, stop in and grab a seat and enjoy some amazing food! See you next year Trummers 😁👍

Terrible service. Food was ok waited forever for dessert and coffee. Did nothing special for our 45th anniversary Got coffee order wrong. had, asked for quiet place and was put in an overcrowded small room...ruined our special day

We were looking for a charming spot to celebrate our adult son's birthday. Trummer's met the challenge: interesting cocktails (like the Titanic which had a mini-iceberg), delightful flavors (especially the soups), and attentive service, all in a glorious, sun-filled room. Scenic drive from Manassas, too.

Trimmers is a real neighborhood gem. The restaurant is located in an old home with a beautiful wrap around porch. Step inside to a large bar area and then upstairs to the main dining rooms which are very spacious and beautifully designed and decorated. The entire staff is very cordial and engaging. They all work together to ensure a unique dining experience and one to be remembered. Brittany our server was fabulous. She was friendly and attentive to our every need. Along with all the others and the chef who modified our fish choice while customizing our selection. Thank you for a wonderful evening. This is a highly recommend and well worth the drive to get there. The Baked Alaska is a must try! Patrick Zimmerman
Be the first to ReplyQuaint But Energetic!
My first time with my wife and we have a wonderful visit. The atmosphere was quaint, but the clientele was energetic ... which really added to the experience. Regarding the food ... excellent! We both had the Squash Soup which was well seasoned. My wife ordered the Halibut and I had the Prime Rib ... and we both enjoyed our entrees. Last, and probably most important, the service was top notch. We felt very well cared for with just the right amount of attention. The only area for improvement could have been around the acoustics. As mentioned previously, there was a lot of energy is the small dining area upstairs, but that made for a challenge to have a conversation. Maybe the management can find a was to dampen the acoustics.

We celebrated a special occasion at Trummer’s recently; our second visit following a co-worker recommendation. My wife and I commented to each other how each dish—from appetizer to dessert—seemed perfectly balanced in taste. I came away with the feeling of having had a pleasant and completely satisfying meal. The staff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. My wife really appreciated the help on the wine selection, which matched her personal preferences and went great with her dish. We will definitely be coming back….
Be the first to ReplyGood food, terrible organization.
We went for a special Oktoberfest celebration buffet and, while the food was exceptional, the execution of the buffet was disastrous. The bar was 50 customers deep at one point, the buffet was poorly organized so that it took far too long for the attendees to serve themselves, what table staff there was could not keep pace, no announcements were made when serving was available - one had to know by happenstance. As we were leaving we stumbled on to dessert be accident only to learn that the sauce accompaniment had no serving spoon. Some of the attendees were waiting for staff to produce one but after a long wait one of our group found a unused one on another table and repurposed it. Sadly we were unimpressed. Very sad because we have enjoyed Trummer’s greatly in the past.
