My Bestie took me here for my birthday and it was fantastic! The atmosphere was relaxing, service outstanding and the food delicious. My friend stepped away and someone came over and covered the food so it could stay warm, impressive! The duck fat potatoes were good also. Good vibes and a good way to start off the weekend. Thank you!!!!

Made a reservation to take my wife and my two daughters here for Mother's Day. We have been here before and thought it to be ok ...this visit was particularly dicey. Service was good. But the options for the menu were awful. It was a prefix menu, that was average it best. I got foie gras as an appetizer and the whole Bronzino for the main course. It was average at best. $86 per person. We had our two daughters with us under 12 years old. The kids menu was $37 a child under 12 years old!!! . That gets them three chicken tenders and french fries for $37. This is with the understanding that we could've left once we received the prices. Although on Mother's Day when things are pretty booked, that's tough. So I had to eat the cost and the average food and call it a day. The prefix menu was $86 a person. The "desert" that came with the kids meal was a scoop of out of the box ice cream with some whipped cream sprayed on top and sprinkles. It was a pretty ridiculous meal for close to $400. Think twice make sure you call and ask what the menu is. Also bathrooms were not working and were told to go outside the establishment if needed . That wasn't even the biggest issue .

We enjoyed a special dinner on Thursday to celebrate our daughter's graduation from college. The food, service and atmosphere were outstanding. Truly appreciated the tray offering congratulations and blondies at the end, too. We've celebrated a number of special occasions at Trummer's and it never disappoints.
Be the first to ReplySpectacular drinks and world class food menu.
Professional and friendly (actually fun) service made for a dinner evening we will never forget.
Be the first to ReplyMy wife and I had a wonderful experience at Trummer's.
We were greeted with exceptionally friendly service as Mirren escorted us up the elevator to our second floor table by the window with a view of old town Clifton. Hannah dropped by to make sure we were comfortably situated in the elegant space as Justin approached with bottled wine, specialty single serve wine, and food menus. He was knowledgeable, personable, and professional. My scallops were perfectly cooked and the bite I had of my wife's salmon was delicious. After cleaning our plates, we indulged in Justin's recommendation of banana fosters beignets. It was complimented by an exquisite espresso. We thoroughly enjoyed dining at Trummer's and will return.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, we always enjoy! Fun craft cocktails.
A decent selection of beer and wine. Always friendly staff.
Be the first to ReplyUsed to love this restaurant.
It still has great ambiance but the food was mediocre at best. 3 people in our party ordered the mushroom risotto and it was almost inedible. Extremely salty and unappealing to look at. No one finished their food. The prime rib was over cooked. It's a shame because they used to have amazing food. Sadly we won't be going back. Too expensive for hit or miss food.
Be the first to ReplyGood food with great ambiance.
The restaurant is an old hotel in the town of Clifton.

As you can see from my prior reviews this is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. I was last here the Friday before Christmas in December 2023. I returned here with my family of five. I booked my 6 pm reservation on OpenTable. This time we were seated at a very nice large table in the main dining room, which I prefer. I love their main dining room rather than their upstairs dining room. I started with and enjoyed my Pain & Pleasure cocktail with tequila, curacao, hibiscus, lime and Jalapeno for $16. The ice ball was made with Jalapeno. I also enjoyed my Tuesday special duck breast with bourbon jus for $36. Amanda J. served us very well. My total bill was $279 excluding gratuity. I will return here for dinner or happy hour.

This was a quiet drive for us,my family questioned does it worth it or not. From the moment we stepped in I knew this will be great. Place has a spirit and amazing atmosphere, architecture of historic building with terrace views, ceiling glass windows and airy classic design was a hit. Service is close to perfect, server was extremely knowledgeable about menu. Honestly,we came for Joyce Farm chicken and chicken t was spectacular!!! Ideally marinated, not over,or undercooked, crispy skin, whole cut up chicken with spectacular yummy roasted baby carrots and best stuffing. Wow!!! I can write a long read about this chicken. Absolutely worth 58 dollars,we share it for 2 without appetizers and we're full.can be shared for 3 with some salads For desert we had carrot cake trifle ,it was fine, but nothing outstanding. Will definitely be back for another beautiful dinner and another entrees.

Food was delicious, service was great and the ambiance was nice, bright and inviting. We went for a birthday dinner and received recommendations for wine pairing with the duck, delicious. Will come back again.

I tried this place with some out of town family the other night, as we had read the reviews and liked brunch there pre-pandemic. There was great ambiance and service, but, in our opinion, the food was meh to bad (and quite expensive). A bad combination. The cornbread with pear butter was great, and that was about all I have good to say about the food. I tried almost everything else on the table and really didn't think anything was worth the cost. My youngest daughter had the kids pasta, which was supposed to be cavatelli, but seemed much more like a gnocchi, and wouldn't eat it because of the consistency. She also didn't like the kids dessert - ice cream - which she normally loves. I started with the mussel soup, which was very underseasoned (a theme, if would turn out), and generally flat - also, served at just a a smidge over room temperature - It was probably one of the worst soups I've had this year (including at occasional trips to Panera). For my main, I had the prime rib and duck-fat potatoes and was very disappointed with both. They again were both very underseasoned and lacking in flavor. The meat was also very difficult to cut even after I asked for a steak knife. Again, probably the worst prime rib I've ever had. My brother had the same, and he agreed. My youngest, this being her first experience with prime rib, thought it was ok (after I added salt). My wife had a salad and squash tart, and she thought both were fine, but nothing special. My older daughter probably liked her food the best - venison loin. I tried it, and it too was underseasoned, but better than the other dishes on the table. I brought my Mom along, and she had a three course meal. The potatoes and lardons and spaetzel side were good. The venison schnitzel was very gritty and didn't taste very good to me. The strawberry streusel dessert was also light on flavor and soggy. The family shared a coffee creme brulee, and that was probably the best dessert, but really that isn't saying much. We had really enjoyed the brunch at Trummer's a lot pre-pandemic, so may someday return for that, but maybe not given this experience.

Maybe this food is great for somebody but I really feel like they're just trying too hard with these recipes they're all really different ingredients mixed together and in the end it just doesn't taste good.

*Drink Review Only* A friend and I decided to get some afternoon drinks and lunge for a bit, so Trummer's was our pick. Having been here before, for both their amazing drinks and food, I was surprised I forgot to give this one a review. The Drinks: I went with the "Titanic" and the "Pain & Pleasure" for my drinks. The Titanic is the special cocktail which has a incredible flavors that hit just right. The alcohol was mixed very well as it wasn't over bearing at all. The Pain & Pleasure would have to be my favorite though. The nice and fruity flavor with a slight kick to keep your pallet in check is just perfect. The Service: Service was great! The staff here are all so friendly and welcoming. Water refills were on point and frequent check ups were done as well. The Atmosphere: Two floors, a lively bar downstairs and a very nice and elegant upstairs dining area. The vibes are relaxed and would 100% make a good date spot. Dim lights with an open/spacious elegant dining area calls for a nice intimate night out. Overall, a 5/5! Everything about Trummer's is amazing. From the ambience to the food/drinks, you can't go wrong with this place. Highly recommend visiting Trummer's if you get the chance.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at.
my wife and I have been here over 100 times in the last dozen years or so. Outstanding cuisine, Creative bar, great staff, fabulous service, and a comfortable environment. I'd recommend something particularly but the reality is almost everything I've had been excellent. And, everyone has their own taste so I won't get specific. But, regardless of your culinary interests, I highly recommend that you visit here for either lunch or dinner it will be worth your time
Be the first to ReplyI enjoyed having lunch here with a group of friends.
The setting of the village of Clifton seems like an oasis in the middle of a bustling Washington DC Metro. The building is historical with a nice winding country road approach off the main road. There's a nice welcoming bar area. The restaurant is on the top floor. Very spacious and lots of space around tables. My impression was that I had arrived at a place where the best traditions of hospitality still live. The lunch menu changes seasonally. We ordered the crab dip, which was smooth and very flavorful. The truffle fries are extremely tasty. The corn bread literally melts in your mouth. I tried the crispy shrimp po boy. It was classical. Two large pieces of shrimp flattened and fried with a tinge of spiciness that slightly tingles but doesn't overpower. A member of our group ordered the Wiener Snitzel and loved it. I'll note it for the next time as I love this dish. The menu serves well for people needing a lunch salad as well. Service was impeccable. I judge service by the way your water glass is filled without your asking for more. Service cutlery was replaced before the main course. I was expecting the menu to be very expensive and was surprised to see the prices similar to restaurants in the area. $$. There was a good selection of wines and beer. I highly recommend this restaurant for meeting friends and family. For me th drive from Potomac MD to Clinton was worth it.
