How are the mighty fallen!
I have been lunching at Wiltons 2 or 3 times a year for the last 35 or so years. Whilst very far from cheap I have never had a poor meal until January of this year. I forgave them for that slip up as it was not long after Christmas thinking perhaps some below stairs staff where still off it being very quiet. Yesterday I had a far worse meal. Nothing I had, with the exception of the oysters(!) was any where near Wiltons historical standards. Something has changed radically although they deny it but very few of the staff I now recognise. Very sadly I do not think I shall go again as at their prices I am not prepared to risk being let down again.
Be the first to ReplyAll around proper dining experience
If you want an all around proper dining experience with attentive service and wonderfully prepared food in an elegant atmosphere where male patrons make an effort and throw on a sport coat and women patrons do where dresses, this is your place. We enjoyed ourselves immensely.

This is such an experience still has Echoes of great traditional service but also has friendly top quality staff that make the experience even better Lovely selection of fish to choose from as well as meat options Treat yourself to lobster thermador or simply cooked plaice or halibut A lovely wine list as well All In all a great place for a treat or special occasion Hugh Grant even turned up at the bar

Wiltons is pretty perfect. In a city filled with noisy restaurants, Wiltons is an oasis where you can have a civilized conversation. We enjoyed oysters and Dover sole, excellent French wine, and exquisite service. Expensive but a good value--worth it.

Only disappointment was that Beef Wellington was not available until 6:30pm on Saturday night. As a early diner I would have to wait and decided to order something else. Great atmosphere, location, food and service. Only beverage service was rushed as the Sommelier was anxious to sell wine. Great cocktails. Will return!

My addition to the five star reviews is on the basis of having to cancel with less than eight hours notice due to my husband being unwell. The staff couldn’t have been nicer, wishing my husband well, taking no money from my credit card and saying they would welcome us back when we were next able to book. Wonderful service - thank you.

We usually dine at Wiltons when we are in town as we enjoy the great food, service and atmosphere. There are plenty of lovely staff serving you who are friendly and helpful. There is a very extensive wine list. This time we enjoyed salmon ceviche( a new dish on their menu), marinated salmon with dill & mustard sauce( delicious|) for starters, plus we shared a stilton souffle-a must for blue cheese lovers! For drinks we had an excellent whisky sour and a delightful Chablis to start, the we enjoyed a bottle of Morgon-one of our favourites. Your wine glass is kept topped up for you-you do not need to ask, such is the service in this restaurant. For mains I enjoyed lambs kidneys with bacon where English mustard is served to you from a sauce boat!! My partner had the fried cod with crab sauce, though she found the sauce a little too strong. We finished our meal with a couple of espressos. I recommend this restaurant very highly indeed -we will be back soon!
Be the first to ReplyWiltons, for a sumptuous and civilised dinner
Wiltons is a magnificent restaurant for the following reasons. 1. Large menu, and there are meat dishes as well, so not entirely seafood. The bread and butter pudding is a must-have, please keep room for it (you get a very generous slice). This is served with custard. 2. Beautiful interior, even their carpet bears their logo. I'd describe their interior as sumptuous and traditional. 3. No loud music. This means you can talk to the people you're dining with and don't have a headache the next day. 4. No uncouth and unmannered "instagrammers" who take photo, after photo after photo and pose and pose for photo after photo. When we dined, we didn't even see anyone with their phone out. This makes a dining experience civilised and delightful. Wiltons thankfully does not attract that crowd. 5. Many restaurants rush you, and state a time limit on tables, Wiltons don't do that. We had 4 courses and we stayed for 2 hours, we could have waited before leaving or had another tea. This means you can eat in peace. If you have not discovered Wiltons yet, please do try it out. We will be back there as we're keen to try other dishes on their menu.
Be the first to ReplySheer opulence in a beautiful setting
This is a stunning restaurant in a beautiful part of London, where they really remember what service means. Despite the sheer opulence of the restaurant and unbeatable upmarket atmosphere, the staff are attentive, friendly and helpful. The lamb on the carving trolly was the best I’ve tasted. Will definitely return, and soon I hope!

Such a lovely way to start the New Year with a lunch visit to one of my favourite restaurants in London. The front desk provides a warm welcome though I wished that the “jacket & tie” dress code for men had been sustained. A well-proportioned man was hovering at the front sporting an over-large zipped up windcheater and open neck shirt. Not at all smart so I hope he was apprehended before he entered the restaurant! What next? Baseball caps on the wrong way round? Back to the good old days of proper standards please. Thanks to ever helpful House Manager, Michael Stokes, we had a delightful table which provided ample screening for our business discussion and the service was discrete but always experienced and timely. The ambience continues to exude quiet luxury. I feel the Seasonal Menu is terrific value (important in a tight and high tax economy) with 3-courses offered for £47.95. My starter choice of half a dozen Carlingford Irish Rock Oysters was superb. Freshly shucked mouthfuls of sweet salty pleasure with a contrasting red wine vinegar and onion dressing. Absolute heaven on a cold winter’s day. From there, I moved to the Carving Trolley and myriad slices of tender honey roasted gammon with creamy mashed potatoes. Spinach (£7.00) and French Beans (£6.50) were extra but worth it. Finally, we both had the gorgeous Bread & Butter Pudding which was light, sweet and sitting in a moat of delicious custard. The wine list is imperious and impelling but not so easy to find a value for money midday measure. I opted for the Tuscan Le Volte Dell’ Ornellaia 2018 for £98.00 which drank well. Plenty of fruit flavour and not too heavy. Overall the bill was a meaty £274.16 for 2 with service now at 15% but this is a very special restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyThe best restaurant in London.
World class in all ways. Bravo We started with the caviar then to the cheese soufflé and on to the lamb which was delicious. Mashed potatoes like Mom used to make. A great array of desserts. Simply yummy.

This was our 3rd visit to this brilliant restaurant and we were there on a very busy Saturday night to celebrate our 38th Wedding Anniversary. The food and service were as usual perfection. Thank you to all of the staff for making us so welcome (and seating us in a booth) and making our special day so really memorable.
Be the first to ReplyWill definitely be returning in the New Year
Went here just before the theatre. I had the seasonal menu which was amazing value. Started with 6 oysters followed by the best mushroom & truffle risotto then finishing off with blood orange trifle. The food was faultless as was the service from everyone who came to the table. 1st time here but feel that this will be our go to place when we come to London. Perfection
Be the first to ReplyAmazing in every way
We visited Wilton’s on our 55th wedding anniversary and couldn’t have chosen a better place to celebrate . Had never been to Wiltons before but always wanted to . Can’t think why we waited so long . The wonderful staff , the amazing food in a beautiful setting made a perfect night out . A special thanks to Barbara who was our very attentive waitress for the evening although everyone from the manager, reception and sommelier were friendly and welcoming . (Not a quality found in all restaurants !) We can’t wait to return .
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding as always
Wiltons never fails to be simply the best restaurant in London. The food is outstanding-the service is friendly and immaculate. Very hard to fault

We made reservations for Wiltons before we even left for vacation. Valentine's Day was our last night in London and we usually pick somewhere special to dine. Wiltons more than topped our expectations, which after reading all the positive reviews, says a lot! We were greeted warmly and shown to a lovely table near the back of the restaurant. After sitting down, my husband noticed a former Prime Minister and his wife dining near us. After that bit of excitement we got down to the best part of our evening . . . the food and the service! Wiltons' lobster bisque is truly one of the best I've ever tasted. We consider ourselves "foodies" and really appreciate the taste of our food. Having dined at many Michelin starred restaurants, Wiltons is as good or better than many of them! On the night of our visit, they had a special Turbot for two, served tableside. WOW! The presentation was only outdone by the taste! This is a fish we can't get at home and was probably one of the best we've ever had. The suggested Sancerre wine pairing was perfect and complimented the gentle taste of our fish. The Bread and Butter Pudding for dessert was amazing! As were out aperitifs and coffees. The service was warm and friendly and very professional. Wiltons was the perfect choice not only for Valentine's Day but for our last night of our British vacation. We hope to return someday!

Fabulous quality of dishes here. Their smoked salmon is simply amazing! Anyone who is partial to a soufflé, needs to try Wilton's! Lovely, relaxed and friendly setting. Impeccable service with a friendly smile.

One of our favorite restaurants anywhere. Great ambiance, service and food! The Dover Sole is perfect! Great dauphinois potatoes. Terrific!
Be the first to ReplyService lacking
The food and ambience stellar. Service started very nicely until the end when our waiter disappeared. Not sure what happened but worth noting since one would expect more of Wiltons.

It was absolutely great experience with delicious food but more important the gentleman who told us the story of the restaurant was very knowledgable and welcoming. Finally our wonderful head waiter Yaya was absolutely brilliant with his service. I will definitely come back. Thanks guys
Be the first to ReplyWonderful Wiltons
After seeing an advert for Wiltons as a student in London over 30 years ago, I don’t know why it’s taking me so long to finally dine here. After all those years of looking at the menus and photos it would have been hard for any restaurant to live up to expectations. Wiltons did in every way and then exceeded them in the kindness and attention of the wonderful staff. It will now be my regular haunt on my trips up from wales. Thank you for such a wonderful experience.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food in a traditional and cosy settings.
This was such a lovely English restaurant, and the food takes a French influence. I love the fact that everybody was dress smartly. This does matter as it sets a standard.. I had the soufflé and the Dover soul, plus some oysters . The soufflé was the best I’ve ever had, and the Dover sole was just unimaginably good. And my wife had the crab and the cod, but I think I got the better meal . I think I will try the beef Wellington next time, which is only served on a Saturday . Booking here is essential

1st class lunch, this restaurant gets better and better each time I visit. Great food, top class service. One of the best restaurants in London
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointing!
I'm embarrassed that I took 2 good friends to Wiltons yesterday for lunch to celebrate a big win for us and a day out in one of London's finest establishments. Having eaten amazing food at Wiltons over the years I expected a memorable treat, however, we were all disappointed and let down. For £530 for three people the grilled lobster was tasteless and vegetables limp, the lobster thermidor also poor and the Lobster Bisque which used to be out of this world to taste could have been out of a frozen packet. The food could have been Frankie and Benny's at Heathrow. The Lunch is memorable for all the wrong reasons. It looks like Wiltons is now owned by a corporate group and like many corporates do they exploit the brand and ruin it leaving customers with a high bill and poor food. Service was not as I expected either - we felt rushed like the crew wanted to get off their shift as quickly as possible. Very sad for one of London's oldest posh eating houses. Please do something!
