(Last visited 11/13/2023.) Hanging out in Boston working for a few weeks and a young lady that worked at the hotel I was staying at said I had to try this place, well, today is the day! Little did I know I should've made reservations on a freaking Monday night of all nights, but we got lucky, so here's how it went! Atmosphere/Appearance: This place is ducked off in like an alleyway of sorts right downtown Boston. It's such a cool vibe because it feels like you've found something secret that nobody knows about, but in fact... everyone knew. Lol. It was so busy in here and they were sold out of reservations for the evening so we popped a squat at the main dining room bar. There are actually two. Once you come in the door you're corralled into a small room where you're greeted by the hostess, but once you turn the corner the place opens up! To your right there's seating, to your left is the first bar and more seating. Then if you go straight you go into the main dining room which has an even bigger bar and plenty of places to sit. This place was dimly lit, chill, intimate and almost felt gothic a lil' bit. Like, real 1600s type stuff. I dug it. Service: Carrie & Darwin took excellent care of us. They were both friendly, fun, quick, attentive, knowledgeable and made sure we had everything that we needed. Food: I started off with a What's Up Doc. It's a cocktail consisting of blended scotch, drambuie, carrot, turmeric, ginger, honey and lemon. It was mixed VERY well. Tangy, sweet, balanced and didn’t taste a lot like carrot at all. My first social plate of the evening was the Lazy Lobster Dumplings which are ricotta dumplings cooked in black truffle butter with an onion crunch and lemon crema. This was HEAVEN. It was my favorite dish of the night. I could've eaten 2 or even 3 of these! It was out of this world. Savory, creamy, hearty. Delicious. Soft. Tender. Cheesy. They’re like, deconstructed dumplings. They aren’t stuffed. Mild, yet very clear truffle taste. For my next drink I went with the Icarus. It's blanco tequila, strawberry balsamic, martini fiero, suze, apricot, lime and served with a spicy tincture. It was a bit spicy, a bit bitter with natural fruity sweetness. Both delicious and different. My next social plate was the Bavette Steak “Mirabeau”. There was a slight, slight fishy taste from the anchovy butter. Cooked excellently. Seasoned well. Tender. VERY buttery. The toast underneath it was a great addition to soak up all the extra juices and flavor that you could've missed out on! My final cocktail of the night was the Circus Charlie. It's brownie infused bourbon, coffee infused punt e mes and served with toasted marshmallows. There was a light coffee flavor with a spiced sweetness. Not quite an espresso martini, but lighter, not as thick. My final social plate of the evening was the Coconut Rock Shrimp which is served with a key lime yum-yum sauce, pickled fresno peppers and spicy peanuts. I didn't taste a lot of coconut, but the breading is really soft, really tender. Great snap to the shrimp. Sauce is a little on the light side. It was my least favorite dish of the night. Breading was too thick, fell off in the “Yum Yum” sauce. Now the desserts... I got to try the La Bête Noire which is Valrhona chocolate crémeux, coconut yogurt, mango sorbet, candied cashews, chamoy strawberries and a hibiscus meringue. THIS WAS FANTASTIC. The lightest, airiest, fudge ever and the fruit balanced it all out. Lastly was the Cinnamon Babka Bites. They're served with dulcey chocolate-chunk ice cream, orange blossom, red currant jam, candied pecans and a chocolate dipping sauce. They were soft, sweet, rich, decadent with a great cinnamon-sugar balance. The chocolate dipping sauce was an excellent complement. Value: Each drink was $17.00. It's Boston, it's downtown and this is a NICE place. Be prepared to pay. It is what it is. The lobster dumplings were $32.00. The steak was $19.00. The shrimp was $20.00. Both desserts were $12.00. Like I said, this place isn't cheap so be prepared to spend if you visit. I love this place SO MUCH. I would come back here again and again to try out different drinks, different menu items and of course, repeat that chocolate dessert!
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and atmosphere - don’t sit near the bar
Great location - good was lovely - we worked an 8.45pm sitting for supper. Order 6 small dishes and a pita and all was amazing - actually over ordered. Decor was great. Staff were very pleasant and friendly and as noted food was 10/10. Only downside was the 4 gentleman stood behind our table at the bar shouting and Cushing and when we asked them to tone it down they did it more. Put my partner off eating the last 2 dishes. If it hadn’t need for them then a 5 out of 5 score would have been had
Be the first to ReplyGreat atmosphere, food overpriced
The place has a great atmosphere, one of the doors to the dining room is in a book shelf and there is a lot of cool artwork. That part is definitely a 5. The service on the other hand was maybe a 2 at best. Friendly but just sooooo slow. We sat in front of empty drinks 3 times before we had to flag somebody down. It took forever for somebody to take our first order. We weren't in a rush, so the food taking a long time was ok, but not having a drink is annoying. Now to the food. This was very hit or miss. Some of it was amazing, some of it was just ok, some of it was terrible and I couldn't eat it. Part of the problem was also that it was so dark at our table, that you couldn't see the food. The baked oysters were under a thick crust of pure salt. If you can't see your food, you can't scrape off the salt and all you are eating is pure salt. Disgusting. On the other hand, the steak was amazing. The Halloumi was about what I make at home, most definitely not worth the $16 price tag, it was very very thin slices of Halloumi, nothing special. All in all, the portions are tiny, yes, they are tapas, but they were higher priced than other tapas places in the area and the portions were much smaller. We enjoyed the atmosphere, but won't be back. I can get cheaper, better food in other restaurants with better service.
Be the first to ReplyBetter than expected
We were impressed with Yvonnes. I honestly didn't expect the food to be as good as it was, but it seemed to tick all the boxes. Cool atmosphere, beautiful room, great drinks, friendly and efficient service AND good food! We dined on the earlier side and I expected to be rushed through dinner, so common these days at restaurants, and that was not the case here. This is not budget dining by any stretch, and I think works best if treated as a sharing/tapas style menu. There are also some large plates and large format drinks that might work if you have a bigger group, but since it was just two of us, we stuck with the small plates and marveled at some of the larger offerings go by our table! Coconut fried shrimp were addictive and delicious, and we felt a generous portion, easily shareable for up to 3/4 people. Lazy Lobster dumplings were like gnocchi in a very tasty cream sauce. Perhaps a little more lobster would have made this dish a tad better, but I think we all know how that goes these days with the price of seafood. If you've thought about dining here, just book it. I don't think you will regret it
Be the first to ReplyArrogant customer service
Terrible customer service. Nick, the manager, needs to tone down his attitude. We had a large group reservation 10/14, 9pm. Got there on time, Nick was inpatient, mistreated my friend’s wife. When I tried to intervene he called security on us. Extremely arrogant person. We left and will neve come back.

We booked Yvonne’s far in advance, and we were excited to visit. This was supposed to be our Friday night Boston experience, as we were travelling from England. We had pre-read that the bar entrance is made to appear as a hair salon, giving nod to a prohibition format. In my opinion, shoving two salon chairs in front of a mirror doesn’t really seem adequate. There was no real detailed staging behind the salon concept, and as a theatre industry professional I found it a bit mediocre. Next, I made a reservation far in advance for the time of 9pm. To arrive and be told my table isn’t ready, and to then be eventually seated at 9.30pm is poor effort. I don’t care how busy you are, if you can’t deliver on your reservation promise, then don’t bother! There are plenty of other good bars in Boston that will provide a more prompt service. Next, the place is too loud. I couldn’t hold a conversation with my friend who was less than a metre away. For some this may be appealing (I guess), but not for me! The staff were also very transparent in their attempts at upselling at every opportunity, and it just felt like that detracted from the quality of the experience. Whilst the food was good overall, the experience was really poor. Me and my friend felt the same way. An array of other people who we watched come in also seemed frustrated with the level of poor service, so I don’t think we were alone with our views. I just feel as though the place is geared towards making maximum money by trying to upsell too blatantly, and by cramming too many people into a space which should feel slightly more subdued (in keeping with the prohibition style). This place just felt very gimmicky, but with no substance. Yvonne’s didn’t deliver, and we regret picking this venue over some of the other great spots that Boston has to offer.
Be the first to ReplySpecial night out - served!
Fast service and incredible sharing plates with a middle eastern and Asian influence (at least the 6 dishes we tried). Great balance of vegetables, meat and seafood. Drink menu was diverse and delicious. I’d say the music was a notch or two too loud but not headache-inducing. I’d highly recommend for a special night out! (Though you don’t need to dress up if you don’t want to! Attire ranged from baseball hat to suits)
Be the first to ReplyGreat Special Occasion Night
We came here to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. As requested, we sat in the Library Room, offering a classy, comfortable atmosphere for our dining. We decided to order five (5) of their"social plates" - smallish plates meant to be shared. Each plate showed that an expert kitchen had prepared these plates. First off was the kale and farro salad, nicely dressed, delicious, flavorful. It was closely followed by the Lazy Lobster dumplings, in a nice sauce, perfectly presented dumplings, adequate lobster chunks, delicious. Coconut Rock shrimp, breaded on coconut infused breading, served with Yum-yum sauce, was a hit. So was the seared hallumi cheese with eggplant. But as great as these dishes were, the star of the night belonged to the Lamb Kofta sausages, nicely grilled and in a yogurt-style sauce. There are plenty of wines offered by the glass. For dessert we split the Greek Doughnuts with blueberry frozen yogurt. Service was excellent. A nice, unique way to celebrate.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, not so great service
Food was outstanding, although for shared tapas I would have loved to see a serving utensil or two. Service.was.so.slow. When we reordered a second glass of wine (from the wine by the glass menu) it took well over 15 minutes. Drinks themselves were incredibly slow but the food quality and atmosphere were fantastic
Be the first to ReplyGreat atmosphere, amazing cocktails & terrific food!
This is truly a spectacular gem of a trendy restaurant, while music was a little on the loud side, it was still easy to talk with my date. The waitstaff was fantastic, our server was excellent - truly cared about our experience and was very knowledgeable about what was good and what would go well with what we chose to eat. Highly recommend!
Be the first to ReplyBoston Magazine got this bang on
After going here I read the Boston Magazine review of this place and realised I hadn’t lost my mind. Great food: corn salad a highlight, shrimp light and lovely and flavours complex. The baked Alaska was immense and not cloying in its flaming rum shell. Flat service except at the table itself (with bad transition from bar to table), horrible loud music and warm white wine. Somehow it doesn’t matter that much as the food is the star and when you’re spit out into the street 90 minutes later you are happily full and happy to flee the madness. I’d love to eat there again but would need to work up the courage to go back.
Be the first to ReplyUnique atmosphere
Unique atmosphere! Food was good and drinks were great. We went on a Saturday at 7:30 and the bar was over flowing and it was very loud. Food was overall pretty good and great to share. Definitely would recommend if your looking for a fun dinner out that isn’t the same as every other restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyNothing but a pretty picture on Instagram
A hyped-up place with inattentive and rude staff. At the entrance, we were not offered to leave our things in the coat room, and we almost beat the dishes jostling with our coats at the table. While taking orders, the waiter never remembered who ordered what, food was brought and put randomly didn't know who ordered it. The food is not bad but mediocre, portions are small and the choice is poor. During the winter period, their air conditioner blows on a cold temperature of 68 Fahrenheit, which is cold even in Florida. Upon request to turn it off or make it warmer, the waiter in an unfriendly manner said that he would convey our request to the manager. We never received an answer, and the air conditioner kept blowing on our heads as a result my friends and I caught a cold. The check was not split and when we asked to split it, the waiter said he did not remember who ordered what and could just use three cards. Excuse me? What about doing your job right or haven't they heard of quality service in Boston? In the end, the checks were split and we were even given dessert. But it didn't make up for the overall impression. The women's bathroom smells like poo, and it feels like it's not ventilated at all. In general, I do not recommend this place, except for the interior, which is beautifully presented on Instagram have nothing to do there.
Be the first to ReplySuch a lovely place!
There are not enough words to describe how much I enjoyed my evening here. It was late night on the night before Halloween (Sunday) and few places were open. We read the reviews and decided to give it a try. Oh my! The ambiance, the service (bartender was fabulous(, the food, the books! We spent the evening on the bar/speakeasy side and loved every moment. Can’t wait to go back. Perhaps it was the magic of All Hallows’ Eve but it falls into my top 10 favorite bars!

Amazing restaurant in Boston with a really cool & different vibe. Its ambiance can't be matched. Drinks & food are pricey but worth it for a nice experience or a special occasion. I made a reservation for 9pm but we weren't seated until about 9:30pm... we grabbed a drink at the bar while waiting which was fine. Busy place but totally worth it.
Be the first to ReplyDon’t bother.
The staff here is pretentious and rude. Overpriced menu and drinks. Definitely not worth your time. There’s tons of great restaurants in Boston. Pass on this one.
Be the first to ReplyDon’t miss this experience!
We visited Yvonne’s for some small plates and an early drink on Saturday afternoon. The place is gorgeous. You feel like you are somewhere special. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable and kind. The food!!!! So creative and perfect. We had the steak tartare toast, the halloumi with charred eggplant (amazing) and the lobster dumplings. We sat in the lounge. Would definitely go back.
Be the first to ReplyOustanding venue matched by clever dishes
A feat for the eyes and the stomach. Interior decor is wonderful and exciting.Someone has made a real effort to combine glamour with elegance. Dishes are just the right size for sharing - not too large, not too small. Go for the hrrimp and the meatballs. Avoid the octopus. Cocktails are huge and powerful.
