13 Coins SeaTac Reviews from The Last Year
Thank you Thomas! Fabulous service
Unexpected excellence. Recommended by hotel. Food was exceptional and service was even better. Highly recommend. We sat at bar with the comfy leather seats. Steak and crab, lobster Mac, local beer, …. Really great and thanks to Thomas for amazing service and incredible recommendations that met kid needs as well. Great stopover eatery.
I kind of having NO choice after my experience on
I kind of having NO choice after my experience on 05/18/2024.. Yes yesterday morning..This establishment was like my "OWN" Haven a very very special place for me when they were located Downtown Seattle across from the Seattle Times Newspaper!!! I would go just about every night..I really really enjoyed this establishment it was my "SPOT" 24 hours.."Breakfast--Lunch--Dinner"... My favorite was "Double Bucket of Clams!!! I wish I could turn back the hands of time? A Relic of a Decor..The staff was Friendly..amazing with Humor (Kevin) even though there were a Service charge..We gave additional $25..Meal(1) $53. (2) $48 and (3) $30? My breakfast meal was the Ham and Cheese Omelette..I should have just ordered myself a Cheese Omelette because there was "NO" Ham in sight or in side that damn Omelette..!! It makes Me sad to talk about 13 Coins..I thought would never END
We were in Seattle on vacation and decided to stop and eat
We were in Seattle on vacation and decided to stop and eat at this gem. FOOD: Portion size was large. More than enough! SERVICE: Several waitresses helped out. They all worked together as a team, which was unusual but pleasant. We didn't wait for refills, sauces, etc. Everyone was helpful. AMBIENCE: This is where it gets interesting. I'd say late 70s, early 80s, smoking jacket vibe. The bar was set up for the long-haulers w/lounge chairs & arm rests, not stools. It could've used a tiny Gordon Ramsay restaurant makeover (in the kindest way). Oddly enough, as we were leaving, my husband pointed out that there were 13 coins laminated into the table top. I think that's a cool little wink. It's worth a visit! Zero regrets and we definitely plan to visit again.
We always have a great time at this very special place.
Props to Eve for her wonderful hospitality and great service that always keeps us coming back. 13 Coins is a Seattle tradition, and this is one of my favorite locations. Looking forward to coming back!
Horrible experience.
Having enjoyed the 13 Coins for years, l went there recently with a relative and ordered the Filet Mignon, expecting a consistency in portion size and flavor l had experienced so often. What came out was a disgrace. The meat was perhaps 3 by 3 inches, not at all large enough to justify the price, just okay in flavor and served with cold, lumpy, out of the box hash browns. And that was it! No soup or salad, no vegetable, no bread. The bill for this pathetic crap was over $50.00. Needless to say l was very let down by the experience and it will be a cold day in hell if l ever go back. 2 points for ambience -- not the garbage meal
Nothing to write home about.
The service was slow even though there were only 4 tables took about 15 mins to get my order. For the Benedict and it was meh. I also got a mimosa. My bill came out to $50. Not worth it in my opinion.
Old restaurant close to SeaTac Airport.
Most of the customers seem to be regulars or people that have a stopover at SeaTac airport. I had a roast beef sandwich that was called a prime rib dip. Nothing to write to home about. Unfortunately the sandwich took forever to come out from the kitchen. The bread was soggy too. The food tastes on par with the quality of Applebee's. Besides the mediocre food, 13 coins is a restaurant that's open late and open for partial hours on Christmas day.
Need a new vendor.
We are from Alaska and never miss coming here when traveling thru Seattle but we left disappointed tonight. Service was indifferent and always delivered from behind us (we sat st countertop watch and converse with cooks). Split chicken Marsala. They should have said dwarf chicken. Smallest breast I have come across. Sauce flavorful but needed to be thickened. Mushrooms of dwarf variety as well. Need to up your game
A very nice restaurant
Flew into town and after checking into the hotel, my wife and I visited this restaurant and were pleased about our selection. Appetizers consisted of the French onion soup and the crab and artichoke dip. We both agreed these two dishes were the best soup and dip we’ve ever had. For the main meal, my wife had the roasted salmon and I had the filet mignon which was topped with Dungeness crab meat. I would highly recommend this dining experience as the service and atmosphere was top notch.
Jerry the pantry chef was like family.
We laughed and had so much fun. Tom didn't leave me hanging. We will be back as much as possible. Love this place. Next time we bring stuffy animals of Tom & Jerry as promised!!! Much love Jayne and kendra See ya soon boys!!!!
The food is wonderful.
You can't go wrong. It's entertaining to sit at the counter and watch the chefs. Huge parking lot behind the restaurant. Lighting is subdued. Perfect for upscale date night.
I went to the SeaTac 13 Coins with my friend last night.
I ordered the chicken parmigiana and a glass of the house chardonnay. I expected the cream sauce to be a bit more flavorful. I don't salt my food, and I think adding a little salt would have elevated the flavor to perfection. Regardless, my meal was delicious, and all components were definitely homemade. I could tell that the chicken breast was pounded and breaded onsite. I'd order the same meal again; however, there are so many tasty options, that I'll try something else, next time. And there will certainly be a next time. The server was warm and perfectly attentive, and the ambiance can't be beat. There are several kinds of seating options from which to choose. These are just some of the reasons 13 Coins is a Washington state restaurant standout.
Meh.
The food was mostly ok. The burger I got was decent, but nothing to write home about. I’ve had better, I’ve had worse. The veal my partner ordered, however, left a lot to be desired. One piece was overcooked and tough, the other pretty gristly. It wasn’t terrible. It just wasn’t particularly good. Great service, interesting atmosphere. We enjoyed watching the chefs cook. The food was just disappointing.
A Swing and a BIG Miss
We never mind a wait as we are retired BUT to wait for food that was at best mediocre and pay $100? Ridiculous. You’ll notice that the majority of their menu calls for ‘spaghettini’…meaning you’re simply paying for sub par, box thin spaghetti heavily sauced in butter. Dennys does the same thing. My husband had the ‘Sunday Cod’ and I had the salmon. I never leave reviews…it was hard to eat. The salmon was hardly cooked and had a gelatinous substance floating like a moat. The spaghettini nearly hit as edible with their attempted used of fresh thyme, however they failed to remove the herb from the dinner which left my friends pulling bits of wood from their teeth. I’m not a food snob by any means…I just know what a $38 dinner entree should be and it should include a veg to offer respite from a pile of $2 pasta and globs of unrecognizable sauce. Good luck 13 Coins. Your food has gone shockingly downhill.
Like a Time Machine That Takes You Back To a Better Time
Fifty or sixty years ago, restaurants commonly had great food, great service, delightful ambiance, and impressive furnishing, and a reasonable price. But there is still one left, 13 Coins. And probably the best monte cristo left, too.
observations of the Bellevue restaurants
Bellevue location 13 coins You'll notice I gave a five-star review that's because I will never say anything negative about anybody I just tell the truth .I didn't EAT there I sat and watched the cooks, I watched the chef put food on a greasy plate that had not been washed properly ,I don't know what he was making but the lettuce looked Brown it had oxidized, then I watched him degrease the meat pick it up with Tongs place it on top the lettuce do his garnish I know time is money in the restaurant business I plan to open a restaurant in downtown Bellevue it's going to be called the G????? L????? I'm looking at other restaurants right now all over town I'm quietly looking around Into the kitchens seeing as much as I can the reason I'm doing this is I don't want to have this happen in my restaurant, I love people I want to give them the best experience ever, if somebody ever came into my restaurant and viewed such dispassionate sloppy work I would do anything in my power to correct it, I want the best for people if I can't provide that then what's the use ,it just goes to show the best restaurants I ever was involved with required a person that really cared ,not an absent owner who's up in an ivory Tower counting the money. so far the only place I've seen that really cares about you is D???? B?????? of course they're very expensive I'm hoping I can offer an experience at a reasonable price that is superior to anybody that I've viewed. God bless you all hopefully the world will become a beautiful place where people really care about each other it starts with us feeding each other with love good thoughts and true intentions of goodness. john
Great food, big portions.
Little different atmosphere, first time at a 13 Coins, it had a 1950’s big booth, nightclub feel. But…. the food was amazing!! Huge portions, friendly staff and quick service. Great place.
Extremely bad service during the holidays!
I know that the restaurant was busy because of the holiday season. We were dropping of a family member at the airport after a family funeral so thought of you for a good meal. We arrived around 11:30am and was told we would have a 25 minute wait, which we did. When we first arrived we were told that we couldn't go into the bar for service because they didn't have the staff to handle it. 25 minutes later, we were seated in the bar and it soon filled up with people. We only saw one waitress handling it all! We didn't receive our drink order, which was just lattes and soft drinks, until about 30 minutes after we ordered them. We had to ask for sugar and table settings. We sat and sat, and saw other tables near us arrive, eat, and leave before we got our order over an HOUR AND A HALF LATER! No explanation other than they were busy. We received 4 out of 5 of the dishes at that time and the 5th person had to wait for her order another 15 - 20 minutes! We were there for a total of 3½ hours for a simple brunch! Normally, I might concede that, yes, you were busy because of the holidays, BUT the fact that there were no apologies or that a manager hadn't even stopped by to apologize was amazing! The only plausible explanation is that our order was taken by another waiter and our waitperson didn't notice for quite a while and she had to put in another order for us! All in all, a miserable example of service. We could have left and received our lunch somewhere else in half the time except we kept thinking that our food must be arriving soon! Yes, the food was good. We have been to 13 coins may times over the decades and never been subjected to such bad service. Thought that you should know!
Nice Restaurant Near Airport
13 Coins Seatac is close to the airport (but not walkable) with nice ambiance and an extensive menu. They have lots of breakfast items, salads, steaks and sandwiches. We had dinner there and both ordered the fettuccine with clam sauce ($28/each). It was okay. It was too creamy for our taste and it needed a little bit of a kick. They do not take reservations, so we had a bit of a wait. After we were seated, it was almost an hour before we got our food. That’s not a complaint, but a heads up to be prepared to wait. Despite the average food and long wait, we would dine there again if staying near the airport.
So Cool You Might See Kojak Eating Here! OK, maybe a Seahawk?
This place is special. The vibe is the same as it was when I was a kid and I love it. Sitting up front where the cooks work is the absolute best thing ever! They rock and roll the food out and the banter is second to none. What an experience! If you want quiet? Get a booth. The booths are 10 feet tall so there is a lot of privacy. It's a nice casual-pace meal with the unmistakable anti-pasta and sourdough you get as soon as you sit down. If you're like me, that's a big plus! I always get the "Believer" (chicken parm wwhite sauce) it is insane good!
Great little sports bar
Food was pretty good. We had parmesan wings and Brussels sprouts. The wings were decent sized … meaty. Sprouts were a pleasant surprise.
