A Taste of Britain Chesterbrook Reviews from The Last Year

The food was great, but the waitress wanted the richer looking folks to stay as long as possible, but rushed us out as quickly as possible, despite that we were willing to pay for more stuff.

We celebrated my niece's 4th birthday with a tea party at A Taste of Britain & were so impressed! The staff was friendly and accommodating, and the tea & food was delicious! They also offer gluten free options :) After tea, we walked around the tea shop and they had the cutest gifts and decor! Definitely recommend for a lunch date or special event!
Such a cute place for brunch.
We had a great time, my daughter loved having a real tea party!
Went for my daughter's bday.
It was very nice. A tad expensive (2 of us, bill was $150 including tip). But its mainline so expect it to be expensive. But, truly was a wonderful experience. The food was yummy and enjoyed being able to buy things I could normally only get in England or get shipped to us. Waitress was very sweet and kind. But knew how to "sell" to upgrade.
Perfect Afternoon Tea
What a fabulous experience having afternoon tea. The food is very good but the truffles with royal treatment are something sent from heaven. Tea is always brewed perfectly and service is great. Kirsty went above and beyond to accommodate us.
My wife wanted to do some fancy tea.
The places she had visited before were in center city. I didn't want to deal with the parking situation. So I jumped on Yelp and found this place. Made reservations for their valentines special. Super cute place. Delectable little treats tower for valentines. It had savory and sweet. Honestly I liked the savory options more. We got a surprise deviled egg with fried prosciutto. I can't explain how god it was. Ahi tuna on little crispy bead. That was delicious. These mini mushroom soup shooters. Those were so good we bought a quart of the soup on the way out. The only thing I wasn't keen on was the flank steak sandwich. That was kinda weird. Crab meat and pea balls that were just amazing. The red velvet scone was surprisingly not sweet and came with jelly, butter, and a lemon spread. Lemon spread was the best but not on red velvet. I thought the butter was something cool at first and took a bit bite of it. I picked one of their teas specials. The snow angel. We left very full. Oh at the start I got a complimentary sparkling drink and she got a mimosa.
Always a fun splurge.
Addicted to the high tea experience. Their remodel to create a larger store looks amazing. So many British snacks and the to-go foods are great.
What a lovely gem! I have never been to this place before
What a lovely gem! I have never been to this place before in Wayne. First off love the location because of parking and not having to worry about cramming in to street parking. Fantastic ambience and service. Very welcoming and warm, like you are entering in to an overseas cafe. Wonderful menu for the theme. Highly recommend the banana nut rooiboss tea. Lemon scone and curd was fantastic as well. Dairy free milk option for tea. If you are vegan, not really the place for you unless you are more in to the tea selections. Theres is also a nice little shop area in front of the restaurant with nick knacks and kitchenware. Definitely looking forward to another girls brunch here again soon! Overall- quaint and eclectic.
Love this place.
Authentic, delicious, high tea is the best. Scones are out of this world! Service is great too! ,

I went with a friend yesterday and highly recommend a reservation in advance via Resy. The service was great, everything was delicious, well decorated, and you can get hot water refills for your tea. We chose English Breakfast and Earl Grey a la creme, both were very palatable and easy to drink. We got to chat for a few hours and had a great experience overall. For sandwiches, I chose the chicken salad, egg salad, ham with maple pecan butter, and turkey with cranberry butter sandwiches. All of them were yummy and I particular liked the ones with butter! Lemon and raisin scones were tasty on their own and fun to try with the strawberry preserves, clotted cream, and lemon curd. We couldn't finish everything and got a to go box for the rest of the desserts. I would say it is on the pricier side at $36/pp but you can always order a la carte as they have a big menu and I would highly recommend trying out A Taste of Britain at least once!
Our family loves going for high tea and A Taste of Britain
Our family loves going for high tea and A Taste of Britain is hands down the best option in the greater Philadelphia area, having tried just about every other place. The afternoon tea is an authentic offering with up to four finger sandwiches, scone of your choice that comes with clotted cream, lemon curd, strawberry preserve, three small desserts which change by the season, and an extensive selection of teas from which to choose. I also appreciate the option of almond milk instead of regular milk to go with your tea. The tea is served in individual tea pots with a strainer and the tea items are presented on a three tier serving platter. At $36 pp it's a really great deal and the tea room itself is very cute and comfortable. Other options in the area do not compare (going to the city to several of the hotel options will be at least twice the cost) and the other cute option in Havertown is not an authentic British high tea offering. Then when tea is done, you can spend time browsing for British snack items or adorable knick knacks in their store. Plenty of easy parking in the Spreadeagle Shopping Center - and you can make a reservation on Resy! Outstanding.
Never Disappoints! You have got to try this place!
Excellent customer experience. Food was great, staff very attentive to our table. They had themed deserts on the Afternoon Tea tiered trays. The themed desserts made us so happy! There was a monster macaroon, and a ghost cake. This place never disappoints. Tea is always fresh, scones are always tasty and different flavors. Great place for friends to meet or family to connect.
DIETARY RESTRICTIONS BE WARNED - NOT ACCOMODATING
My wife and I have been going to A Taste of Britain for years and enjoyed there tea time menu until recently. Unfortunately they have a new chef who is UNWILLING to allow for changes to the menu/dietary restriction or adjustment based on ALLERGIES- anyone who has ANY DIET RESTRICTIONS BE WARNED THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU! Additionally there food quality and options have gone downhill since the new chef and there staff is not as nice as it once had been.
Food Failed, Super Server, Tasty Tea, Great Gift Shop
The food was a major disappointment! The tea sandwiches very poor quality - the bread was cheap store bought bagged white bread and wheat bread. And worse yet, the pieces of bread on the outside of the stacks were stale. The turkey was lunch meat, not “real”sliced oven roasted turkey. The other fillings were blah. The scones are extremely dry, dense, and crumbly. The desserts were not very fresh or flavorful. The best dessert was the complimentary chocolate mini cupcake for my birthday. The teas are flavorful! And our server, Gianni, was excellent, especially since it was his first day! And the gift shop is great!
Disappointing" Afternoon Tea"
Sadly, a massive disappointment. Resting on their pre covid laurels? We went for Afternoon Tea - Tea sandwiches on thick American bread, no choice, (have to have the ones they say - no substitutions) and the "cucumber" contained a slab of cream cheese with one poor thin piece of cucumber lost in the goo. The clotted cream had clearly been piped into the tiny plastic cup days before - dry on top and watery at the bottom. The scones were very good, but you cannot have both a teeny cup of strawberry jam and a teeny cup of lemon curd, you have to choose one teeny cup or the other - go for the lemon curd, the jam has to be the cheapest thing out there. The "pastries" were really inedible - they were so stale and dried out. The service was excellent - but no way will we be back - I was stunned actually by how bad it was.
