Be the first to ReplyBest Restaurant in Edinburgh
Every time I travel to Edinburgh, I visit Aizle. It's the best restaurant in Edinburgh. The service, staff, and allergy accommodations are outstanding. The food is just beyond amazing. The experience is unique, and the flavor combinations are unforgettable. I look forward to visiting your restaurant again soon. Thank you for the best experience ever.
Be the first to ReplyAn experience of two halves.
Booked this restaurant before we left home as the reviews relating to the culinary skills of he chef sounded exciting. The Tasting Menu did not disappoint as each dish left you feeling the Chef had a skill set above the norm. The dishes flowed from start to finish and were executed extremely well. It wasn't just about presentation as the depth of flavour was something else. The overall rating has nothing to do with the above so what lets it own? Service and atmosphere I am afraid. We had a 7.30pm booking and arrived at 7.10 to have a drink first. There seemed to be an urgent need to show us to our table despite there being no one else in the restaurant and it was this sense of urgency that continued throughout the evening and frankly impacted upon the above rating. There were 2 members of waiting staff and in my opinion one knew exactly how to manage themselves and did a wonderful job throughout and the other needs to calm down and be less pushy with their service. A Tasting Menu is not a five minute experience and can take a few hours to truly appreciate each served dish. Being observant and anticipating diners needs is one thing but quite different when they are made to feel rushed so staff can complete their shift and go home. I would mention there were 3 tables dining throughout the evening making a total of 6 diners so hardly a busy night. This point links into my second area of disappointment which was the atmosphere or the total lack of it. We went for a similar dining experience previously in the week at another restaurant and it was full so there are people out there wanting this style of dining. I am not sure if this is a regular Thursday night for Aizle but if this restaurant relies entirely on full sittings on Friday and Saturday evenings only it is unlikely to stand the test of time. In my opinion that would be a great shame as the food is delicious so it may help those in charge to go through this review to see how they can address the points I have made. It is an expensive evening and diners have an expectation that all areas of service should be on point and good food alone will not guarantee longevity.

If the idea of an exceptional dining experience in Edinburgh appeals to you, look no further! The Aizle restaurant offers a unique menu, where each dish is designed around a seasonal ingredient. The dishes are of remarkable quality, both taste and visual. Note that the food and wine pairing is very interesting and original, because it includes wines from the four corners of the world that we are not necessarily used to tasting when we live in Switzerland.

One of the best food experiences on my trip. The tasting menu is very well-planned and highlights the ingredients. My top two would be lamb belly and the fish dish. Amazing texture and flavor combination. Worth a visit if you're ever in Edinburgh.
Be the first to ReplyWhy does Aisle not (yet) have a Michelin Star?
My wife and I went to Aisle for an evening meal on Valentine’s Day. We were reminded how good the food is – just pitch-perfect. Innovative, interestingly presented and amazingly tasty. The staff are well-informed, friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is relaxed. It is undoubtedly competitive with the other Michelin-starred in Edinburgh, and we can only assume that the ‘garden-room’ setting has held it back. I imagine that could be improved with a bit of thought and the décor changed a little (for instance, our table for two was quite small). Anyway, this restaurant is outstanding, central and not to be missed!
Be the first to ReplyLaid back vibe with quality food and friendly service
Hidden within the Kimpton hotel in a central garden room Aizle has a laid back european vibe. It only offers a set tasting menu so be bold and go with it, we tried dishes that we would not normally order and were very pleasantly surprised. And eight courses is a lot, even if each course was quite small, we struggled to finish everything. Service was friendly and informative but suggest you give yourselves time, it took four hours.

We had a fantastic meal and experience. Have been lucky enough to eat at a few nice restaurants with tasting menu and matching wines in the last year and Aizle was easily the best. Menu, which is kept a bit secret, was brilliant and perfectly paced and matching wines were all superb. Really excellent meal.
Be the first to ReplyGreat!
Keen to try Aizle and lucky enough to get a table on Sunday PM. Had to change reservation time at short notice and was easily done. Loveley evening and lived all the courses. Did not have the wine flight but enjoyed the Old fashioned. Favourite course was the Lamb and the layer duck. Lively decor throughout.
Be the first to ReplySuch a fun menu!
We had such a great tasting experience at aizle. The menu of ingredients doesn't give too much away so every dish that comes out is a surprise. There were a mixture of finger food and cutlery needing dishes which were served on imaginative plates and added a playful element. Staff were fantastic. Only minor complaint was that we had to move back our plans for afterwards and then cancel as we were at the restaurant for 2 and a half hours which we didn't expect for being a weeknight and only a few other tables there. Food was fabulous and if that's how long it takes to create then fair enough was worth it.
Be the first to ReplyBest meal we have ever had!
Absolutely incredible from start to finish. Cannot rate this restaurant highly enough. Food impeccable, staff fun and amazing and the venue and vibe was absolutely spot on. If you come to Edinburgh it would be a crime not to visit here 👌🏼

Located in the courtyard of the Kimpton Charlotte Square, my first impression was that we had stumbled in to a cafe at a garden centre! Our welcome was less than enthusiastic. We were shown to our table in the corner of the restaurant next to a coatrack and an obsolete computer gathering dust. The corridor around the restaurant was busy with hotel traffic. Not really an aspiring Michelin setting! Service varied from very good to okay. Liked the idea of the 'ingredient list'. Definitely some significant skill in the kitchen with preparation & presentation. Dishes varied from interesting and/or imaginative to okay. Loved the lamb (though odd not to have cutlery with this course) & chocolate orange pumpkin dessert, but not so impressed by the lack luster/flavour monkfish and rather tough duck. Also, not a fan of the rather over-sweet brioche half way through the meal. For my taste, the dishes were generally over-salted. There's good competition in Edinburgh for these 'taster' menu events. Aizle's offering was rather underwhelmed and, in my opinion, there is better value to be had.

My husband and I have just returned from a 3 night stay in Edinburgh, our favourite city. We were fortunate enough to visit both Aizle and the new restaurant Lyla and were absolutely delighted by the experience at each venue. Both very different but the same excellent standard of cuisine and service. All the staff were extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the food and made us feel very special . It was difficult to choose a favourite course as we enjoyed every single one but I think the lamb dish at Aizle was spectacular and it is even more difficult to select a favourite dish from the 10 course menu at Lyla but the lobster hors d’oeuvre was mouthwatering as was the scallop dish and the smoked trout but each course was amazing and the care and attention to detail in the presentation (art on a plate) was spectacular. We would certainly recommend the wine flight and the sommelier at Lyla transported us to the various countries of origin in his amazing description of each delectable wine. A sincere thank you to all staff at each venue who made our visits an experience to treasure we look forward to returning. We would also recommend staying at the superb hotel 21212 where again the service was exceptional
Be the first to ReplyEnjoyable dining experience
We enjoyed a lovely evening at Aizle for dinner. The food itself is very creative and by & large very delicious, full of local/Scottish ingredients. Would probably rank the food somewhere between 4 and 5 stars, but the 5 star rating is solidified by the excellent service - the dinner was truly an experience at roughly 3.5 hours, every course perfectly spaced and our party was truly given the time to relax and enjoy the experience.
Be the first to ReplyAn Enjoyable and Memorable Evening
My partner and I had a thoroughly enjoyable evening at Aizle. We weren’t sure what to expect, but it was an amazing taste experience. Having had paired wines with a tasting menu elsewhere previously, and not being able to remember the last couple of courses of the meal, we decided to go with one paired wines and one paired soft drinks and share between us. I actually preferred the soft drinks which were all really unusual and interesting flavours. The sommelier gave us some interesting info about each of the wines and soft drinks. The food was exceptional. Every course was like a work of art with so many interesting and complex flavours. The stand out dish for us was the slow cooked lamb. I’m not normally a huge fan of lamb but it was unlike any lamb I’d tasted before, really delicious. There were so many interesting dishes and we really enjoyed them all. The service was well paced and the waiting staff were all very knowledgable. The only thing I would say is that I am a very visual person, so I think it would have been helpful to see the titles of the dishes and paired drinks on a menu. We listened intently to the waiting staff describing each dish but as the evening wore on and we had more of the wine, it was a little hard to keep track and retain all of the information! I like to know what I’m eating and I feel that I missed some of the information as there was a lot. Also, in hindsight, I would like to try a couple of the wines at home but didn’t have a note of what they were as the glass was poured and the bottle taken away (as you would expect). We were both very full by the end of the meal and couldn’t finish the last chocolate dish. We ordered espressos which unexpectedly came with 8 amazing chocolates and confectioneries. We had to have them boxed up to take home with us! I liked that the tables were really well spaced apart. We were able to talk freely and didn’t have to listen to anyone else’s conversations either! We had a lovely evening, definitely one to remember. Thank you!

Been on the hit list for years and it didn't disappoint. Attention to detail with every aspect of your meal from the initial greeting, crockery and playlist! The flow of the night was perfect, couldn't believe where the time went. An absolute Edinburgh must try.Well done lads keep smashing it! Shout out to Bekah for looking after us!

Unforgettable experience, best restaurant in Edinburgh, I went with my partner and both we enjoyed very much, the staff really takes care about the customers and the food was superb from start to finish
Be the first to ReplyPhenomenal cooking and presentation
I've been visiting for years and I've loved seeing the business develop. Technically and taste-wise this is simply one of the best restaurants in Edinburgh and indeed, Scotland. Our latest visit delivered the best food we've had, possibly anywhere. The price has gone up again but the team deliver more for that money. It certainly stands up against the costs of other quality, fine dining destinations. Every course was sublime. From snacks to pudding and petit fours it was excellent. Particular mention for the Wagyu and lamb dishes. But picking favourite course is impossible. As always I love the informality of the restaurant. The staff are fantastically knowledgeable and friendly. The pictures of the food speak for themselves. Whilst it is in the Michelin Guide it doesn't have a star. That is simply a bit of nonsense. The food quality and technical execution deserves a star. I've wondered whether they've actually been too cheap to hit a criteria for a star...maybe they're more aligned now. Phenomenal.

Aizle made a great impression when we visited Edinburgh in 2018 coming up from Wiltshire, so we’ve come back to their ‘new’ location in the city centre. The staff were charming and the food was excellent . Thank you.
Be the first to ReplyHugely overpriced and lacked and real taste.
My wife took me to Aizle for my birthday, we did the tasting menu and I had the paired wines, whilst she had a few cocktails …..and at well over £400 it was absolutely not worth it!! We have had countless tasting menus throughout the UK, and this was by far the worst, yet one of the most expensive (only topped by Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles…… which was actually worth it). The food lacked any real depth of taste. Even the wagyu beef was fairly bland, so what an own goal there! The wines were OK, but the sommelier lacked any real knowledge and charisma, so that detracted from a key aspect of the experience that should have been a highlight. Ultimately, Aizle is attempting to punch well above its weight class and that was felt from start to finish. From what I understand there has been a fairly aggressive price increase recently, however this increase seems completely unjustifiable. Safe to say, we will not be repeat customers!
Be the first to ReplyNot a good experience - might have been unlucky
Reading the other reviews I can only think we were eating at Aizle on an off night. Service was quite charmless and lacked any warmth, they also cleared some of the plates from the table before everyone had finished eating, which for me is an absolute no-no. The vegetarian tasting menu lacked any protein and the person eating it was still hungry at the end of the meal, even after 6 courses. None of us liked the second dessert, a strange chocolate and barley confection - we all left behind most of it (even the one who was still hungry.) Again, on the service, I was amazed that nobody questioned why none of us had finished eating it, it must have indicated something had they been interested enough to enquire. The other thing is that it is called a garden room for a reason - it's like a conservatory and it was extremely cold in there, I noticed other diners had warm scarves on (of the kind that were not designed purely for decoration.) There were some heaters around but not enough. To be fair, it was an exceptionally cold night in the middle of December, but you would expect that they would be ready for that kind of weather in Scotland, given that it was in line with the forecast. On the plus side, some of the amuse bouches/first courses were delicious - a little cheese confection in a thin pastry pot was divine, and the smoked eel starter on a crisp "leaf" was also excellent. The duck main course was very good. I think perhaps had the service been more welcoming and smiley, and the temperature had not been so challenging, it would have transformed our overall experience and we might have been more forgiving, although the vegetarian menu could definitely be revisited. On the basis of our experience, we would not go back or recommend.
Be the first to ReplyI think this might be the best meal I’ve ever eaten
I don’t often bother to write reviews but this is quite possibly the best meal I’ve ever had so I thought I’d make the effort. The food here is incredible, it’s not cheap but it’s totally worth it. I went with my wife, we didn’t go for the wine pairing as I’m not a big fan of white wine and I assumed there would be white wine involved. Every course presented was delicious, very imaginative and beautifully presented, staff are very passionate about the restaurant and the food. Portion sizes aren’t huge so if you like quantity over quality this won’t be for you but it is so so good… One thing I would say, like just about everywhere in Edinburgh, you’ll need to book, I booked on line and the only time slot available was 5pm which is earlier than I’d normally want to eat, was expecting it to be busy when we got there but it was almost empty and there were a number of tables for two that remained empty for the whole two hours or so that we were there. I didn’t ask about this but it may be worth calling them if the online system doesn’t offer the time you’d like. Go and eat here, it’s exceptional.
Be the first to ReplyBest fine dining (casually) in Edinburgh
It's been a few months since our previous visit and this made me wonder why. Front of house service from Rebecca and her team was fantastic and the food from the kitchen absolutely beautiful. I love the separate bread course at Aizle - a lot of effort for something seen as a filler by many restaurants. The starters are always amazing....the kitchen does incredible things with beetroot. Halibut was perfect served with Stuart's GBM 'fake' razor clam. Duck main was seasoned perfectly. Cheese course as imaginative as always and pudding the indulgence they should be. After years of coming to Aizle I still think this is the best value fine dining in Edinburgh....easily.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food, not as good staff
The food is easily michelin star level, and many of the waiters seemed really nice, however 1 in particular was kind of rude and tactless and unfortunately ruined the entire evening for me and made me very uncomfortable. I still wanted to give high rating because of the food, but I would only want to return if I knew I wasn't going to be waited on by this staff member
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding meal. One of the best in Edinburgh.
If I could give this meal a higher score than 5 I would. It was the type of meal that I’ll remember for years to come with every aspect of the meal being excellent. I love the concept of the set menu being designed around the harvest of food and the ingredients were really the star of the show throughout. The cooking and creativity around the dishes matched the outstanding ingredients and course after course, I was blown away. The drinks menu also matched up to the food and the restaurants own cocktails were too class. I honestly can’t say enough good things about this place, we visited at the old venue around 5 years ago and it was excellent, but this meal blew that out the water. Top three restaurant in Edinburgh hands down.
