The food was fairly good but the pork schnitzel is not the traditional breaded and fried. It was thin pork with gravy that was very yummy. Just not what I was expecting. Our server had zero customer service skills for our table of 4 women. No smiles, nothing nice to say but as soon as 2 guys sat next to us, she was laughing and smiling.

We stayed at the Kimpton for a night and had a coupon for 2 hot breakfasts at Betts. Sometimes hotel bars/restaurants can be a little hit miss, especially with service. We had Dawud as our server. He was amazing and on point. Prompt, efficient and upbeat. Definitely sets the bar high for the industry. The food was above average but not anything super special. It came out hot and fast and accurate. Definitely would eat again.

This was part of a hotel and was towards the left upon entering. It was a nice sized location with a good-sized bar present too. The menu had a number of intriguing options to choose from. The service was alright. They did not come back to refill waters often. I went with the large, chopped salad. It came with romaine lettuce, pickled red onion, egg, tomato, chickpeas and a buttermilk blue cheese dressing. It was not too bad. I wish there were more chickpeas present as well as the onions being sliced rather than being so big. Some onions were sliced, but others too big. There was a great amount of the blue cheese dressing, and all the flavors just blended well together. Everything appeared very fresh too. I also tried the shrimp and grits. The grits were sweet, but the homemade sauce that was on the side was a nice compliment to them. The poblano relish was tasty too. Will I go back? I suppose.
Took first come/first serve seats at bar.
Waited about ten minutes before anyone talked to us for beverage orders. Got coffee and water. Despite being there for more than an hour and a half for our meal, no more coffee or water would be forthcoming. This did allow us to notice coffee ground sludge at the bottom of the coffee cup. Weird and kind of gross. Finally ordered. Notified a few minutes later they were out of sausage, so bacon for us. We ordered it extra crispy, came looking like it was fresh out of the package, almost uncooked. No joke. White strips of bacon. We ate (leaving bacon untouched) finished, and then waited for a check. We had taken our seats at around 9am; we were now worrying we were going to be late for our 11am hotel check out. We've been here many times before because we love the Kimpton, but this lobby restaurant experience was a complete bust. Go to Addy's, go to Yours Truly, go to Double Nickel. Hell, go to Starbuck's. For a $50 breakfast for two, you expect to get good service and decent food. Sadly on this go round, we got neither. (We still tipped well...I'm a sucker for Labor Day.)
I have never had more flavorless food in my life.
Went with my friend here and I got a burger and he got a rice bowl of some kind. The service was okay, not terrible but certainly not great. Both of us only took a few bites of the food and spent 80 dollars. Very dissatisfied after waiting 45 minutes to be sat. so yeah.
I love staying at The Kimpton Schofield hotel and this
I love staying at The Kimpton Schofield hotel and this restaurant is located inside. Things I've loved in the past are their great happy hour, local juices, and vegan options. Things I've not loved in the past are hit or miss service, slow service, sometimes poorly made drinks (which I solved by ordering beer or wine). Today's breakfast made me change my good prior reviews based on a negative experience. Two of us dined for breakfast and reviewed the latest menu noticing they clearly call out vegan, vegetarian options. Love that this restaurant still gets it and offers options for all eaters. We place our order with a very kind and competent female server (who appeared to be the manager on staff). Ordered two grapefruit juices, an avocado toast, and chilaquiles (both vegan which just means egg and cheese out/tofu instead). Juices weren't anything special nor fresh. I suggest getting the Anna's Raw juices instead. Meals came out. The tofu on the avocado toast looked grilled. Nice, but still had no flavor. The chilaquiles had goat cheese sprinkled all over the top. I confirmed this was indeed cheese with our server and she asked the kitchen to remake it. They did and it came out pretty quickly with sliced tofu (not grilled, just plain tofu out of the box). No problem as I'm hungry. Take a few bites and still taste the goat cheese. This was my most unfavorite cheese when I used to eat dairy, so I know what it tastes like. I poke around on the plate and see they've left me a small stash of cheese under the bottom tortilla. Not cool. Didn't eat the meal. What a waste. Suggestions for this restaurant if they're listening: In addition to paying attention to the customer's order, I'd recommend doing something with the tofu. You're subbing it for scrambled eggs. Mash it up and make it scrambled. Put black salt on it... pepper, some onion and garlic powder, turmeric, and nutritional yeast. Tofu tastes like nothing if you put nothing on it, so change that. Would they serve a scrambled egg with no spices/salt/pepper? Yuck if so. The only reason for two stars versus one is they have other vegan options. The Caesar used to be great. Not sure if I'd eat here again though.
Recently visited Betts for breakfast.
..it was in a word, TERRIBLE. We were told upon arrival to "hold on a minute" while the hostess was busy clicking away at her terminal. I get having to wait, but her tone was very uninviting. Once we were seated we didn't see a server for a good five minutes at least. From the time we sat down until our order was taken, it was 34 minutes. We saw our server twice in that time...once to take our order and once to deliver the coffee...which she never came back to refill. The food was disgusting. My order was very simple. Eggs over medium and crispy bacon. The eggs were fried hard and bacon was nearly inedible...it was very chewy and the taste wasn't any better. There were also what were supposed to be home fries, but they were essentially flavorless chunks of undercooked potatoes. The toast was the best thing on the plate!! They messed up my girlfriend's order and in response brought her out a plate of cold sausage patties that she did not like at all. Cannot and would not recommend to anyone!!

The host at the front counter was lovely, our server was not. I ordered for both of us (that's the way we like to do it) and the server had a real bee in her bonnet about that so for the rest of service she only spoke to my gf. Drinks were overpriced and mediocre (pineapple juice fresh from the can!). The salad was a pile of lettuce with a few grapes on it (ten dollars!). "Wagyu" meatballs tasted exactly like chef boyardee but drier. Ambiance was nice.
Great restaurant.
The food was amazing but not as flavorful as I thought it would be. I got the Cajun lamb, but I thought it was just plain lame. There was no Cajun on it or none that I could taste really.
This was the most horrifying dining experience of my life.
My friend and I were staying at the hotel next door, and after checking out the next day, we decided to have a meal at Betts. A hostess led us to a table for two. Shortly after, a male server came by, introduced himself, and poured us some water. He filled my glass first, and when pouring for my friend, she politely asked if it was possible to have some hot water instead -- since we were traveling and had sensitive stomachs. He hesitated a little but said yes, then asked if I'd also like some. I thought for a moment and said yes. A few minutes later, he returned with two visibly dirty cups -- one had obvious coffee stains, and the other had a lipstick mark on the rim. Both were filled with hot water. We were too shocked to speak. Even worse, after that, he completely ignored us for about 15 minutes, even though the restaurant wasn't busy and no new guests had arrived. Eventually, another waitress came to take our order and kindly replaced the cups. But in the background, we could clearly see the staff, including the male server, laughing as if they found it all amusing. I was furious, but I didn't say anything. I simply left no tip and wrote the reason on the bill. And then -- as we stood up to leave, the male server came directly toward us, stared at me without saying a word, with zero sign of apology or remorse. I was absolutely outraged. Later, after finishing some errands, we returned to the hotel and reported the incident to the front desk manager. He took it seriously and kindly contacted the restaurant manager for us. The restaurant manager came to speak with me and tried to explain it away as a "common mistake", but I pointed out how anyone could clearly tell from the dirty cups and the server's behavior that this was done intentionally. He immediately offered me a full refund, which I accepted, and apologized. But even during this conversation, the male server was still walking around the restaurant, never once offering an apology or even acknowledging the situation. This was deeply disrespectful, humiliating, and unacceptable. I will never recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I love this location and vibe of the restaurant! It's connected to a hotel and so I'm sure the guests love having a cute place to grab drinks downstairs. I've had brunch here before and it was pretty good, but I wasn't very impressed with their dinner options. We got a couple bowls but they were very bland and not worth it. The falafels were dry in the quinoa tabbouleh bowl, and the "spicy" Tucson bowl was not even mild haha absolutely no spice. The drinks, however, were delicious! Despite the menu, I will say the staff and service were amazing! Very kind and attentive. The host greeted us and made us feel welcome while taking us to our table, and our server was excellent!
Location and ambience was great.
Seated quickly for brunch. Wait staff was really good but food was bland and left much to be desired. Breakfast bagel had little taste and drowning in a sour cream spread. Fruit was not ripe. Would try again if back in Cleveland but highly underwhelmed.
Highly recommended !! Probably the best burger I've had
Highly recommended !! Probably the best burger I've had Everyone and everything was great. The staff was gracious, charming, friendly and genuinely happy we decided to go there. The chef knows their stuff. From first bite to last, we enjoyed every bit. The combination of ingredients blended well beyond my imagination. This will be a must-stop on our next trip to Cleveland
Small menu but delicious food and hearty helpings.
The place is adorable, and connected to a hotel without feeling like it is IN the hotel. Cute outdoor seating available as well.
Came for dinner the ambiance was so cute and the servers
Came for dinner the ambiance was so cute and the servers were all so friendly! Drinks were flavorful and the food was good - the fries were unique and delicious. Would recommend!
I visited Betts for lunch with a coworker recently.
I didn't really check it out prior but it was close and easy for us both. The space is connected to a hotel and is cozy but modern. The bar area was really pretty and I liked the giant windows and all the natural light. They have a variety of seating options and the restroom was clean - and had really funky wallpaper. The menu was... interesting and it took me a while to decide what to get. They offer breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner - all of which have different menus. They also have a happy hour Monday through Friday from 3-6pm. Lunch is from 11am-4pm so that's the menu I went off of. I decided on their vegan caesar salad and a side of fries (which were actually like chips). I did ask for some parmesan cheese to make it more of a caesar salad to me (I'm not vegan and I gotta have cheese, vegan cheese or not). The dressing was good. No anchovies but the capers gave it a good flavor. The chips were meh and I barely touched them. They had good wifi and we were able to get some work done which was nice. I will say the service was rather slow. The food took around 40 minutes to come out and our table was one of few. Fries and a salad doesn't take that long. Our waitress was nice and the bill was reasonable. I doubt I would come back to eat but I can totally see the bar being a fun spot in the evening.
Adventures into this diner place inside of a hotel.
Staff was very nice and placed us next to the window for people watching. Food was good well. Guac was creamy alongside crispy potatoes. The sandwich was so freaking good. The smear they put on it wraps the whole sandwich together perfectly. Loved this breakfast.
Met here for a business dinner.
There was a nice selection of appetizers and main courses. The service was great. We had the shrimp charcuterie board lamb chops and pretzels, all were good and a good size for sharing. I had the burger which was good as well.
Came here for brunch before a show at rocket mortgage.
I got the egg white frittata which comes with toast and fruit. The runner brought our food over and did not include any butter or jam with my toast and completely forgot the side of fruit. First world problems, i know, but with all the competition in the food industry downtown how can mistakes like this even happen. Felt like half of my meal was missing. Runner was rude when i asked for butter and jam and my side of fruit and he only came back with the fruit. I felt bad asking for hot sauce for my frittata so i didnt but it tasted like crap anyways lol
Pick a different dinner place!
Food was barely warm. Pasta sauce was spicy. Salad was not what they considered a Caesar. Bourbon pour was not the cost of what we were told ahead of time. So many more great places to eat in Cleveland.
It was okay.
.. service was slow and our table wasn't that big. We had 6 people 4 people ordered the same thing. The interior is cute and menu is fancy with the description a lot more intricate than what the dishes actually are. Plus the food is not cooked as well as it should be- the quinoa was watery and undercooked. It's a convenient location but I won't be coming again ยฏ\_(ใ)_/ยฏ
The bartender Chelsea was great and charming.
The food was so bad I thought that maybe I was being pranked. I'm not sure if they had a backup cook on a Monday night in January, but it was really, really (really) bad. After two attempts at different inedible soups (the manager agreed), my "roasted cauliflower pasta" arrived. My bartender agreed there was no evident cauliflower (not to mention the horrible sauce without it, that tasted like my 6th-grade attempts at spicing up a jar of tomato sauce with a ton of oregano). She was told that the cauliflower was "riced." Neither one of us could locate it. I paid for the drinks and rolled the dice on whatever other place was open. It was seriously one of the worst attempts at a meal I have ever experienced. I am NOT that picky. I wanted to at least like it. I tried.
I've eaten at this place twice and I will say I was more
I've eaten at this place twice and I will say I was more blown away the first time than the second, but I did still enjoy both! First, the ambiance: this is a prime brunch spot. It's right on a busy corner downtown with lots of windows under a hotel and has a very bright, cheery, and open vibe to it. They have a back area with booths and long tables for events as well, plus a nice bar where I sat with my friend the first time we went. The servers were very attentive, and the food was great! We had gotten the breakfast blunt (dense breakfast burrito), the tomato soup and grilled cheese, and some mimosas. The second time we had the blueberry pancakes, waffles, and some sides. I think the prices may have gone up a bit because I felt comfortably full the first time and only paid $20 or so, but the second time our bill was higher. The food was still good though and the less "enthusiastic" service the second time may have been because it was a party of around 8 people, rather than the first time which was just my friend and me. They were still very nice, I think we just were checked on a bit less (but the place was also pretty busy around brunch). Overall this was a happy place for me and I would go back if I went back to Cleveland!
Nice Addition to Downtown with Some Personality
We are frequent play-goers and always looking for a good place for dinner, especially since some of our mainstays closed during the pandemic. Betts is in the Kimpton Schofield Hotel at East 9th and Euclid Avenue. It's about a 5-minute walk either to Playhouse Square or to Progressive Field, and probably about the same to the arena. We parked near the theater and walked over. I think the earlier reviews from this site were from not longer after the restaurant opened. We saw a great deal of management attention and thought that the service was excellent with welcome enthusiasm. Betts has kind of a fun element. The decor is in line with what you generally see in Kimpton Hotels with a mixture of style and both modern and retro elements. The menu is eclectic and designed for you to try different things. The lamb pops in particular are delicious. They also have a bell-like system to order champagne (we didn't try it). We've now been here three times and had a similar good experience each time. We had no trouble any evening getting out in time for our show. With Cowell & Hubbard closing over the pandemic (the space currently houses a mummy exhibit) other options in Playhouse Square include the Italian Cibreo and Yours Truly.
Convenient location, with good food and service
Based on one visit, I think it's safe to ignore negative reviews. We went there with friends before a Guardians game. It's an easy walk to Progressive Field and also not far from Playhouse Square. Service was friendly and efficient and our server (Shaina) was on top of things. Three of the four of us had the same thing -- the Cali chicken sandwich and we all thought it was excellent, in large part because it came with a nice-sized Cesar Salad rather than the usual fries. We will go back.
Good place for brunch in downtown.
Good food and service. The outdoor seating is nice along East 9th St. The server was very nice and checked in us multiple times.
Good breakfast, but long waitโฆ
(6/22/2023) My brother & I stayed overnight at the the Schofield and decided to try breakfast at Betts (off the hotel lobby) before the midday Guardians-Aโs game. Friendly greeting and prompt seating in a cheery, well-lit dining room. Maybe half-filled at 9:30am, we ordered coffees and browsed the menu before ordering the Steel Cut Oats with side of sausage (me) and the Bodega Sammie (K)โฆ lengthy wait for food (about 30 minutes) was not expected and unexplained, though our server checked in frequently and was apologetic for the wait. When the food arrived, my oats were just OK (sticky and not hot), but my brother loved his sandwich โ- so averaging a 4 of 5. Iโm sure there are more breakfast options around downtown Cleveland - good and convenient, but could do better.
Not very good
They are trying hard to make it but the food definitely does not make it. Way over salted and not the freshest of ingredients. Our salmon was ridiculous. $11. For a salmon side for a salad that was3 inches wide and was horribly fishy tasting. Willed salad. Waitstaff tried hard. Go elsewhere
Good food, but expensive and small portions
We needed a place for breakfast Saturday morning so we stopped at Betts. The menu was small. We ordered the egg scramble and crab cake Benedict. The prices were expensive for the small portions we got. But the food was delicious! The restaurant is attached to a hotel and is a fairly small restaurant. They asked us if we had reservations (it was a Saturday morning) even though there were many empty tables. They ended up seating us right away, but it just seemed strange or rude.
Apathetic
Slow service and not good food and no attention to detail. I ordered two eggs over medium with bacon not crisp and a toasted English muffin. The bacon was not only crisp it was charred. The English muffin was stale i had one bite and that was it. The eggs were cooked to order. The cappuccino was fine. Service was slow. Server never asked if everything was fine. I paid for Breakfast through the Kimpton Hotel. I gave free breakfast free card at the beginning of the meal. When the bill came i was charged for breakfast. I told the server and he corrected it. This restaurant needs a total redo.
Betts at the Kimpton Schofield- A MUST
They were packed!!! We had a reservation and after a 10 minute wait the manager, Chelsea jumped in- took our drink order, appetizer order and dinner order. Everything we had was AMAZING! The service was really good considering the number of people (every table and seat at the bar taken). So glad we decided to come here- canโt wait to come back!
The food was almost inedible
Unfortunately the entrees were very, very bad. My poke bowl tasted like rice mixed with mustard. Iโve never experienced a meal so bad that I could barely eat it. My daughters Tokyo bowl was way too spicy with a large slice of flavorless tofu on top. My coffee was cold so I sent it back only to get another cold cup of coffee but this time in a cup that was chipped all around the rim. It was ridiculous. I asked again for another cup and was told it would be 10 minutes. What? When I questioned it, I was told she could get a different type of americano coffee faster. Everything was just off as far as our meals and drinks. The atmosphere was nice but the meal just out a damper on the night
