Contessa Miami Reviews from The Last Year
Wow, this meal was delicious.
We got a bottle of wine, the squash carpaccio, the whipped ricotta, and the scallops. The squash carpaccio was surprisingly one of the tastiest things I've eaten. We finished the whole plate between two of us. The whipped ricotta was good. A little too sweet for me, but my mom loved it. The bread it came with was perfectly grilled. The scallops were delicious, and they came with onions that had the mildest flavor, almost like a leek/ potato. Delicious. We got gelato for dessert and were very shocked by the $18 price point for 2 scoops, but it really was good. We tried the chocolate, pistachio, olive oil, and coffee. They were all great. Service was great. Very attentive. Beautiful, dim lit space.
Great ambiance and great location in the design district.
Great option for a date. The bread that comes out first is great. Service is was solid and the drinks were good. The pasta was good not great, but it you're in the area and looking for Italian this is a great dinner option.
I was more impressed with Contessa than I thought I would
I was more impressed with Contessa than I thought I would be. I figured it was just another overhyped Miami spot. However, I am happy to report that Contessa proved me wrong. Let's start with the ambiance. The gorgeous decor and the Latin/Italian music playing in the background help to elevate the dining experience. Our server, Alex, made us feel like queens for the evening. The flavors of every part of our meal were perfectly balanced, which resulted in an absolutely delightful meal. We had the whipped ricotta, shrimp mezzaluna, and torta di baci. I highly recommend them all. To drink I had the wynwood sour. Give it a sip if you're a bourbon fan like me. This is the perfect place to come for a celebration or to impress a date or just because you want to treat yourself. Just come!
Ok got a cocktail pop in
Shopping in DD with a friend but we were both famished and decided to pop in. Definitely had the Carbone feel walking in. Beautiful restaurant - was surprised by the faux flowers. Food was pretty good - the lamb chops and garlic broccoli were my fav. The squash carpaccio was good. Because we popped in at an odd hour, service was slow. I felt like he was very attentive when we arrived and when food was delivered, but then dropped off the map. We had to flag someone down eventually for a bill. Seems like the dinner menu might be worth coming back for.

not even close to be Italian
So-called Italian restaurant in the Design District. Beautiful designed - excellent light concept and also the garden is beautiful. BUT the food was a real disappointment. It is not even close to be Italian. No bread being served ! Calamari fritti was a greasy thing without any taste. Only the carpaccio was very good. the Pasta was soaked in oil and greasy heavy stuff. Never will return !
Food was okay, I had to send my main back it was way too
Food was okay, I had to send my main back it was way too salty. Octopus appetizer was really good, what got me really annoyed is that they charge for WATER? 9.00 per person which was outrageous, nothing special just bottled water, never going back
Great wine (thanks to Brad for his awesome
Great wine (thanks to Brad for his awesome recommendations), awesome balcony and great pasta and much more. Bojan (GM) and his team are fantastic and highly recommend!
I hosted a party of seven at Contessa a week ago.
We requested to be outside on the upstairs Terrace and were given round table. The food, the service, and the ambience were all wonderful. We loved the squash carpaccio, the ricotta, toast, and my chicken was amazing. My guests were all so pleased to be at such a beautiful location and to be able to hear each other speak. It is rare to find a restaurant where you can actually hear each other. We were also really impressed with the sommelier, Brad Kinder, who was so helpful, knowledgeable and personable. I will absolutely return there with my out-of-town guests, knowing that we will have a wonderful experience and will enjoy themselves.
Beautiful space.
But as with most of what we saw in Miami this week. A lot of show...very little go. The food was not great. Service was inattentive and the managers stood on a wall next to our table. And, never stopped by when our 2nd course took an hour from the first or when one of the items had to be remade because it was the wrong dish.
Very good food and service in the Design District . Highly recommend.
We had a wonderful dinner on Valentines Day at Contessa . Contrary to some of the other reviews the food was excellent and the service was professional and friendly . Our server Alexandra guided us to some exceptional dishes including the squash carpaccio and the branzino with olives. There was a lively and fun atmosphere and the acoustics were excellent so we could hear ourselves speak . Also other certain other restaurants I have been to on Valentines Day , there was no overpriced special menu and we able to take our time and enjoy a relaxing dinner .
My honest experience.
I spent several occasions reading reviews and getting pursued by the negative to not come here. We had originally booked our dinner for Casadonna, but I got cold feet and switched the plans to Contessa. Best choice I've made in 2024 so far. The service was impeccable. I don't even know where to start with the food. Pumpkin is nothing special to me, but I was curious to try the pumpkin ravioli. I'm sorry, what? Who gave them the permission to serve such a great dish? Whether you like pumpkin or not, this is worth branching out and trying. The octopus could've been bigger, because we LOVED the sauce glazed on top. One of the best octopus dishes in Miami we have tried. We used the sauce from the octopus to dip our bread in as well. I felt that the honey and ricotta was something so simple, but clever. Great flavor and something I can see myself making for future dinner parties. Also, I'm not sure if people know how hard it is to find a good lemon sorbet in Miami. They have perfected it. I would come here for a drink and the sorbet. Not that anyone cares, but I took a couple of minutes to stare off into space just going back to the thought of that sorbet melting in my mouth. OKAY ANYWAYS..... I'm an honest reviewer and I wouldn't just give this place 5 stars unless they earned it. Not to compare this establishment to Carbone, but at Carbone the servers assistant is doing 90% of the work of attending to you and you rarely interact with your server. Nothing wrong with that. At Contessa, our waitress was constantly coming by to check on us. The servers assistant was constantly nearby to aid assistance. It's so weird to see the comments about bad service, because this was some of the best service we've received. You can forget food, but you will never forget service. Granted, we dined a little on the earlier side - 8:00PM. The restaurant was pretty empty when we rolled up, but completely full as we were leaving. This might be something to keep in mind.
Highly Recommend for Dinner.
Beautiful Room, Gorgeous decor and upbeat Italian style cafe atmosphere. The service was impeccable. The staff worked together seamlessly; were efficient and professional. The menu is streamlined ensuring every dish is fantastic n well executed. The sommelier chose the perfect bottles of Italian wines to go with the meal. The bar was happening, busy, fun- filled with the sounds of shaking martinis adding even more ambiance to the room. We started with amuse of tuna and oysters - unique prep of each - Then course of whipped ricotta with Italian salumi n squash carpaccio sweet - delicious sweet-salty combo of the 3! Could have stopped there but didn't thankfully- Lobster pasta n Pumpkin ravioli are fantastic - Still craving them again now. The Lamb chops are delicious, grilled to perfection served with slices of grilled eggplant adding contrasting texture and flavour. Even after all that, Still had dessert, a pistachio gelato completed the evening with a cool palette cleanser. Can't wait to go back. Ask for the sommelier or manager if it's your first visit. Sit outside, inside, or at the bar, wear your best or casual clothes, have a great bottle of wine or cocktails with a feast or just some apps ( didn't even mention the salads), it's the place to go, sit back, relax and enjoy!
Great food experience, terrible service…
A beautiful place with a terrible service. Not an extensive menu, but the selection for us was great. Nice ambiance in one of the most popular places. We were seated outside, we were wait long enough for service. After a long wait, they brought water, that person can’t take the order, so we waited more time until the responsible of our area came for that. The food was a good choice Meatballs, Marguerite Pizza and Spicy Lobster Capellini. After finished no one offered coffee, dessert or anything else. After waiting again for the service person, we requested for the ticket and when she getting back, for our surprise the 20% for service fee was included as well as they asking for another suggested tip. AMAZING… TIPS is To Insure Prompt Service!! the one we missed. They can improve and give better experiences, with a best service team in rush days and times.
Not fine dining Experience
We were very disappointed with the quality of food that we received. When we reserved for Jan 1, 2024 we thought that the service and attention to quality would be more focused than previous nights. Our two Margarita Pizzas came out with barely seen white spots of Mozzarella cheese and to make it worse they were served almost warm to cold so we had to return to be heated. We wouldn't say that we had a yummy Pizza there, sorry to say that. One of our guests had to order another pasta plate to enjoy his dinner.
Nice food but service could be better
Nice ambience but slow service. It took a while to get the order done. Twice we were told that soon the waiter would come. Food quality was good however wine was served in a glass directly at the bar and not from the bottle at the table.

Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.

Can come from a lot of places, people who don't want to get charged their cancellation fee or people who just have them and cant go.

almost all restaurants aren't affiliated with AT and I'm guessing it's mostly people wanting to not pay cancellation fees.
