Kyoto Kitchen Winchester Reviews from The Last Year
highly reccomend
Came for an anniversary dinner, lovely little restaurant with a great atmosphere even though we came on a week night. Tried the taste of Japan menu, food wqs incredible! Tasted amazing and presented beautifully. We felt it was good value for the amount of food you got, left feeling comfortably full but not stupidly stuffed! The staff were absolutely brilliant. So friendly, helpful and attentive without being at all overbearing. Courses were explained well without feeling like you were being given a lecture! Really enjoyed our evening and will definitely be back!
Great food , no pretence will be back
We have been here a few times over the years, the food is excellent every time and very consistent. The new location is good and even with more tables service is quick and efficient Will be back for sure
Great
Great place as always, keep coming back. Friendly staff like Dan at the bar give the place a good atmosphere with great food.
A busy Saturday night but lots of staff serving delicious Japanese cuisine
A super visit with a couple of friends. They had been before and are familiar with Japanese cuisine. We were open to a new experience. The food was delicious. Attention to detail from the kitchen. We had the taster menu for 4. It was a great cross section of Japanese food. It was brought to the table in phases with about 3 dishes each time. I was concerned at first that it wouldn’t be enough food for my sporty husband but by pudding, we were all very full and couldn’t eat it! The food was about £50 per person and we had beer and wine on top. They had Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc which is always a winner in my book! Not an inexpensive meal but a real treat. The waiters were super. Explained every step of the courses. All passionate about the food they served. Gopi, Dan, Sol and Artur served us. Occasional long breaks between courses but it was a very busy Saturday night for them. We were quite rushed at the end and asked to take our drinks to finish at the bar while they set up for the next cover. Maybe on a weekday you would be able to remain at the table. We understood their predicament. Try it - we are converts to Japanese cuisine and will revisit!
Can’t fault this gem in Winchester
Kyoto Kitchen is our favourite restaurant in Winchester. Food is always amazing. Beautifully presented and always tastes fabulous. What more can you ask for?! The service is always impeccable. Tonight Dan looked after us and he was personable, helpful, knowledgable & spot on with his recommendations. Thank you for yet another perfect evening.
Exceptional food and great service
Unbelievable, always great here but each visit gets better and better (if that's possible...) The staff are great, and the food is exceptional, monkfish tempura and butterfish sashimi are just 2 items I would recommend, it's all wonderful Looking for an authentic Japanese restaurant created by truly passionate staff then try Kyoto, it's phenomenal
Absolutely superb melt in your mouth sashimi!
Just what I needed this lunchtime. The quality of fish is absolutely outstanding, best sashimi I have had in a long while!
Delicious tasting menu
The service was excellent, the food exquisite, and they allowed us to do the taster menu for two but one meat and one vegan.
"One of the best meals ever." (Mrs. M)
Old couple. Went for wife's birthday. She said it was one of the best meals she'd ever had. Staff took time to talk to diners, made to feel we were valued customers. We had the "Gourmet Taste of Japan" menu with sake flight. It was excellent with one exception: the accompaniment to the water cake was, er, "challenging". It was replaced immediately. Not worth knocking a point off.
Awful avoid
This was an extremely disappointing experience. We used to love visiting Kyoto Kitchen at the previous premises which were intimate with amazing service and quality. When we visited, the service was shambolic, maybe they are still not set up for the number of customers they can accommodate. We had to wait a very long time and the food was unacceptable quality when it arrived. This is a very different location which we understand, but it has really lost something in the ambience. It was previously a pub and a such as very noisy and echoey. On balance, we couldn’t recommend it.
