Les Faux Bourgeois Vancouver Reviews from The Last Year
Yummy little place.
Blink and you may miss it. We did. LOL. Had to drive around the block and then parked right in front. Its a small quiet little place. Great for small gatherings and cozy dinners. Service was great. The waiter explained all the dishes and told his favs and why he liked them. We had the SALADE DE CHÈVRE CHAUD, SOUPE À L'OIGNON GRATINÉE and CANARD CONFIT. Great flavor, beautifully presented and priced accordingly. Would definitely go back.
Most affordable delicious French food.
The service team was extremely attentive and friendly. The restaurant gave off a classic speakeasy ambiance which helped curate the food served. I recommend parking a block away in the inner residential streets two minutes away. Street parking can be limited with all the other restaurants located on the strip. Our order: Grilled Squid, Moules Marinieres, Le Steak Frites with Red Wine Shallot Jus. I would definitely order all these dishes again during my next visit. The wine pairings were much appreciated by the staff.
Fantastic dinner! We started off with the must-try beef
Fantastic dinner! We started off with the must-try beef tartare and I had the cod with mussels and croquette while my friend had the duck salad! Everything was very fresh and delicious. One of my favorite French restaurants in Vancouver.
Very Good French Restaurant
We have been meaning to go her for a few years and finally made it and we were not disappointed. The food is very good as is the service. In today's inflationary world the prices are reasonable as well. If you enjoy French food, give it a try
This restaurant is a real gem.
Good food and service. Not easy to get a reservation. They fill up quickly. Better to go on a weekday than a weekend. I think you'll enjoy this place if you like French country style food.
Our favourite
Always our favourite. We visit Les Faux Bourgeois a few times a year and aways love it. Our go to date night restaurant and birthday spot. We usually try the specials, and have favourite dishes too. Lovely wine, lovely atmosphere.
UPDATE TO 2023 REVIEW!! I've been here already 3 times in
UPDATE TO 2023 REVIEW!! I've been here already 3 times in the 2023 year and omg, this restaurant will forever be my favourite spot for a simple dinner with some close friends. Every single time I am here, it is consistently amazing!! This year, I have tried all their daily features, and each time I have had it, it is always delicious. And on top of that, their service is fantastic, and I have been served by Dave for the past 2 times this year and he has been extremely friendly and nice to us. This is for sure the perfect date spot as well. The ambiance is perfect for it. It has low lighting, romantic atmosphere, and on top of that, it is cozy and comfortable. I really love how their cocktails are extremely affordable as well, and they taste delicious too! Their food selection has been the same for the past 10 years, they have the iconic Beef Tartare and it is always memorable. Their meat to cracker/bread ratio is perfect, and that is very rare for most tartares. On top of that, they always have the iconic escargot. It is perfectly baked and cooked to a perfection that isn't too chewy and deliciously buttery too. This place is special for their steak frites, as I have always walked off with some take home for the night. They have so much steak and fries in that kitchen to bring home it is perfect. On top of that, their daily features have always surprised me with something delicious every time. Their chefs know how to do a proper meal and it is always warm and hearty. Anyways, I do recommend this place every time my friends want a subtle and gentle place to eat. It is low brow and it does carry a good weight for the past years it has been at this location. Well done LFB.
Our favorite dinner spot on this vacation
We liked the reviews and chose this as our fine French dining experience for our last night in Vancouver. We were quite happy with that decision! Our server Dave was friendly and quite knowledgeable. We were there when it opened and the place quickly filled up. Started with escargot for my wife and french onion soup for myself; both were excellent. She had the steak and I had the duck confit. The duck on top of a warm salad was unique and a great combination of flavors, and the steak flavorful and tender. Food came out quickly, and the staff was top notch from beginning to end. We'll remember this evening fondly, and hope to visit again someday. Mahalo.
We did not have a reservation but we were able to sit
We did not have a reservation but we were able to sit outside on their patio, which is surprisingly underdeveloped compared to others in the neighborhood. They didn't have any heats lamps or music but there was a lot of street noise and then bees kept circling around. The food was decent but I think the best part was the salad that came with the duck, which had a nice dressing and goat cheese mixed in. This was my first time at a French restaurant and it was underwhelming.
Great good, great service, great decor
Just loved this restaurant. Great food, gracious staff, funky love ambience. We had the pate as first course and it was so rich and wonderful it was hard to finish my main, delicious though the moules mariniere were. We were too full to try any dessert but it was a delightful experience.
Faux indeed
Repeated obnoxious reminders that we had two hours the four of us had to eat. Don't see this notice on the website? Empty tables around us. Food was average but irritation at server dominates my impression. Faux indeed. Never again.
We have been here a couple times - with kids an without.
Always really good. Also went with 'Nanna' this time - delightful.
Terrific energetic atmosphere.
Food is well prepared, fresh and delicious. Service is spot on.
My daughter gave me $100 voucher for Christmas.
We booked and went early this month. The only thing I can recommend is the salmon. The meat was like cardboard o attempt was made to stop the burning sun coming in the whole front window to the effect that every single diner with their back to the window, which is half of all customers in the layout of the floor were in total darkness and were totally impossible to be seen by their fellow diners who were facing the window. (Does not lend itself to a romantic evening). The prices are too high for such a disappointing ambiance ($200 with tip) I would never go back and certainly would NOT Recommend this place to friends.
