This restaurant is really cool! The food was spectacularly delicious!!! The drinks were served with generous portions of alcohol and nicely crafted. The ambiance is fast paced and fun.

Food was picturesque, delicious and our waiter was the best! The environment is welcoming, the murals made me feel connected to the motherland :) loved the playlist! We came in with a party of 13 and the service was excellent. Food came out and we all ate together. The Pozole verde and enchiladas were delicious felicidades!
Be the first to ReplyCame here to try the flight of tequila and it did not miss.
Service was great, staff was friendly and quick. We were seated in the back room with what seemed to be a private party. The decor for the restaurant was fitting. Would definitely come again for food and more tequila.

I work a very close to Mayahuel and for some reason had never taken the time to go in, until New Years Eve. My wife and I dine out often, and I've got to say without a doubt this is now my favorite restaurant in Sacrsmento. I have been back every single week since New Years, all for one dish--the spicy pistachio mole. I have brought five separate parties here, all to try this mole. Every one agrees, it is one of if not the single best dish in Sacramento. The Asi Sabe is another reason I go, a tequila cocktail with fresh watermelon and cucumber perched inside a tajín lined rim. The service is also a major selling feature. The servers are completely on top of their game. The drinks and food comes out quickly, and is always perfectly executed. The interior design is really vibrant and fresh, and kind of plays on retrofuturism. The seventies era upholstered chairs contrast very nicely with the popping upbeat colors of the walls and decor, though they are not the most comfortable seats. Occasionally they will do a prix fixe menu that will allow you to sample multiple courses at a very reasonably $45. All in all, Mayahuel has really earned their Michelin star, and I will be coming back so long as they keep their amazing food and service.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is ok if you're in the Downtown Sacramento area.
The chicken mole enchiladas were delicious. They used white meat and the mole sauce was flavorful. The margaritas were good, but undersized. The ambience was a little loud for me. The chili relleno was NOT GOOD. It had no flavor, hardly any batter and was undercooked. Cheese wasn't even melted--fail!! That item needs to be improved or taken off the menu. I would stop buy if in the area. There are definitely better Mexican restaurants. I recommend the mole if you swing by.
Be the first to ReplyA must go to location if you are in the Sacramento area.
The food, ambiance and decor are superb! You are greeted with Love in the patio and the menu will not disappoint.

Wow. Horrible experience.I walked in and sat at the bar. I sat at one of two open seats. It's not a huge bar so the two employees behind it weren't particularly busy. The area was dirty and needed to be wiped down. I gave them an opportunity to do it, but it didn't happen so I had to ask for it to be wiped down. The lady behind the bar didn't greet me, but walked up and went straight to: "A drink for you?" May sound petty, but last time I checked, it was common practice to actually greet your guests. I also work as a bartender at a Michelin plate restaurant in Sacramento and I always greet my guests and make sure they have water, even at the bar. Everyone else had water. I expect better from a restaurant in the Michelin guide. So just to recap: Clean your bar and greet your guests with water and menus. It's not hard.Anyway, I ordered a soda with a splash of pineapple and she delegated it to the other guy, walked away, and proceeded to do nothing. He took my food order and was really friendly and accommodated a special request for me, hence the one star. He offered me a water but never brought it. He asked me what I wanted to drink and I repeated my soda order to him even though she also told him, but he never brought it.I wasn't marked with a linen or silverware until just after my food arrived, so for the majority of my time sitting at this bar I had absolutely nothing in front of me. No water, no drink, no napkin or silver, no chips and salsa. Nothing. The tacos I ordered would have been good if they weren't drenched in this thick salsa taquera. Flavor was good but just really heavy and way too much sauce. It was very cloy and not pleasant to eat. Imagine eating a spoonful of mayonnaise. Yeah.By the time I finished my food and paid I still had no water and no soda. I also never got chips and salsa like everyone else. The bartender continued to make drinks for everyone around me, but couldn't be bothered to make my soda or pour me a water.I asked a third time for water and for my soda because the tacos were spicy. She apologized and poured the soda with pineapple. It tasted like fake sugary shit. Soda splash of pineapple is a drink I can get at any dive bar. I don't know what they served me or what the problem was, but it was gross. I saw her making margaritas with other fake sugary flavored syrups too. Any fresh fruit in house? Even pineapple juice from a can is still actual pineapple juice.Again, for a restaurant in the Michelin guide, I find use of those cheap sugary syrups to be insulting to guests and just gross. I have an inflammatory condition, so added sugar isn't good for me because I will be in pain. A splash of pineapple juice is fine, but when I left I had a lot of trouble walking because I was in pain from what I KNOW was some sugary crap. I also had a stomach ache afterwards. I started chugging it cuz I was so thirsty but halfway through I realized I was drinking sugary fake shit. And I NEVER got water. If you're looking for clean, authentic Mexican food and beverages, look elsewhere. On my way out, there were two women behind the host desk. I looked directly at them as I was leaving to see if they would do their job and acknowledge my existence. They were having a casual conversation with each other and neither of them looked at me or said a word to me as I left.I want to support my fellow hospitality workers, but this was just a horrendous experience. Y'all need some very serious help. Never coming back.

The stars came from the Cool ambiance and the fact they seated us right at our reservation time with no delay. And I have to say first that the food was not bad but being Hispanic myself I wouldn't say it was awesome. I got the tacos de arrachera and poblano which tasted ok but the tortillas were soggy and all the tacos fell apart almost immediately when touched(and mind you I eat very fast). My husband had the Chile verde. Was disappointed that it didn't contain the traditional "huesito" and were only giant chunks of really tough pork. Also (and this may be being extremely picky) how in the history of Chile verde did this very traditional dish get served with white rice!? The mango chile margarita was the only highlight of my evening and I got the virgin one! Just For pricing ideas our group of six paid $300 and only 3 of us got a drink other than water. Again I won't say it was bad but as for myself I won't be returning and I most likely wouldn't recommend my friends or family to come either.

Stumbled upon Tequila Museo Mayahuel while looking for a good lunch spot in downtown Sacramento. It was a Sunday afternoon right after the California International Marathon and they were well prepared for the crowds. We were quickly seated and assisted by our server. They had a wonderful selection of tequilas and other top shelf liquors. Our server was very well informed with their bar and menu selections. I order three tacos and my friend ordered soup. The food was really good and well worth the stop. The decor and service was wonderful and if I find myself in downtown Sacramento again I will be stopping by.
Be the first to ReplyWe had such a great experience at the bar.
We wanted to explore tequilas and our bartender Moses curated a perfect custom flight for us. Moses was attentive and offered genuine conversation. We felt very taken care of by Moses and the other bartender Mario. They were super friendly and gave awesome recommendations. The food was also delicious! We had an appetizer plate and everything was tasty. Honestly one of the best restaurant experiences we've had in a while. Will definitely be back in the future!

Although we only stopped in for drinks, chips and guacamole we had a good experience. The mango Chile (Nonalcoholic, I was with coworkers) margaritas were refreshing on a scorching hot day. The cooled us down immediately. My colleagues reported that the guacamole was good too. Our server was awesome so we all said that we would return when we had more time to enjoy a meal.I couldn't give it 4 stars because my water glass had lipstick on it but that didn't deter me from wanting to return.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing vegan menu.
The chipotle bean dip was enjoyed by vegans and non-vegans alike. I ordered the vegan enchiladas with guacamole and Pico. The portions were generous and it was all very delicious!

We were brought here on the sac bites food tour and was our favorite stop. The chips and salsa were on point. The poblano soup and brocheta amazing! The watermelon mocktail was so refreshing! Can't wait to come back and try their tasting menu!

I love the vegan menu here, the drinks, and everything about it. I've tried three of the vegan entrees now and they are so delicious. My husband loves the regular menu as well. This is my new favorite Mexican restaurant!

We were staying at the Hyatt and this place is a very short walk from the hotel. We arrived at our reservation time and were seated immediately and greet with chips and salsa waiting at our table. The ambiance, drinks, and food were superb. It is a great place to just relax, enjoy some delicious food and enjoy conversations with friends.

This really could've been 5 stars if it wasn't for the 15 minute wait to place our orders and having to track down our waiter. I ordered the Tacos and the steak was cooked well done and delicious sauce on top. It did not have as many rajadas of the poblano pepper as I hoped. The pieces of steak are a bit to big. My drink was so delicious really refreshing ! Nice atmosphere and beautiful artwork displayed inside.
Be the first to ReplyFood was OK.
We got there at 5:30 with a reservation. Ordered, received our food but needed waters refilled & my friend ,who planned on ordering something else to drink, never got the chance and because our server was unavailable & didn't bother to ask! OK, I guess we are just having water!!!At 6:15, knowing we had tickets for the show Wicked, We decided to order dessert. We had to literally wave our hands in the air for the server to notice us!! He finally stopped over at 6:45. 30 minutes had elapsed and he hadn't checked on us or even touched our table!! We ordered a mutually chosen dessert that it turns out they didn't have! So we had to re-chose dessert now with a time crunch. He showed up with our 2nd choice dessert and we literally had a few bites each but had to leave!! He was quick to bring us the bill!! though!!! Won't go back EVER and would not recommend!!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent dinner spot, easy access to Golden One Center.
We started off with Cadillac Margaritas with Chili garnish and Jalapeño infused Tequila which was tasty. I had the enchiladas with Molle sauce. Very good, not too much cheese and good shredded chicken breast meat. The sauce was really good. My wife had the enchiladas that came with three different sauces and was even better. Best of all dishes that our group had was our friend who had a green chili soup, that was the best item that our group had. Sitting outside was nice, service was great. The only knock is that the on line reservation system didn't work but there was no wait when we arrived. Great spot for authentic fine Mexican food dining.
Be the first to ReplyI was really excited to try this place and I'm glad I did!
I was really excited to try this place and I'm glad I did! The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable and I enjoy that they focus on Mexican cuisine rather than "Tex mex". My daughter got the grilled fish tostadas. They were excellent-good size portion of fish and fresh salsa-I just wish there was a little more salsa on them. I had the exhibiting Mexico trio of enchiladas. All three sauces were good-the verde sauce was bright and a little tart, the huitlacoche was good, but not as flavorful as I've had in other places, but the mole was amazing! Rich, deep flavor. I even ate the rest of the sauce with my rice because I didn't want to leave it behind!
Be the first to ReplyI never leave reviews but this one really just let me down
I never leave reviews but this one really just let me down and I have to say something. I've been coming here for years now and loved it, but the last couple of times I've gone my food was given to me straight up cold including the tortillas that come wrapped in foil!!! Once in a while I understand but it's been 3-4 times now back to back, all of which I've been too nice to complain about. A different plate that was actually warm lol was very bland yet soooo salty. The next plate had steak that we asked for well done and it was rare, I understand it still looks red but it was so chewy. The rice on all plates taste like the prepackaged rice that you just add water to. It wasn't a busy day, our servers were all great, just the quality of the food has really gone down and it's just not worth the price. Much better off going to Zocalo.
