McDonald's 1539 Pennsylvania Ave. SE, Washington, DC 20003 Washington Reviews from The Last Year
Rose's Was A Revelation
To be honest, I wasn't thrilled at the prospect of going to Rose's Luxury... the last prix fixe restaurant I'd been to was in HI - for an anniversary donner... and while the food was very good, the six courses provided me with nine bites of food... and we hit a McDonalds on the way back to the hotel. But my wife REAALY wanted to try Rose's... and, as they say, happy wife / happy life. So, we went... Thank goodness! Now I'm not so jaded about the prix fixe format. To start with, our waitress - Angelina - was outstanding! Friendly. Attentive without being smothering. Quick and accurate with her recommendations. Perfect! We started with the pork and lychee salad. It was a cornucopia of taste... once served, we were told to stir it and mix it well. It was a bit surprising and delicious! As we were eating the salad, Angelina brought us our squash blossom rangoon, which came with two sauces - a sweet and sour sauce and a (mildly) hot pepper sauce. The light tempura batter was perfect... the sauces were divine - my wife preferred the sweet & sour sauce while I preferred the hot pepper sauce. For the pasta course of the dinner my choice was the tteokbokki a la vodka... it had a little kick to it... which I like. But as good as it was - and it was GOOD - it was my third favorite of the 3 dishes we enjoyed in the pasta course. Three, you ask? For a two-petson dinner?! Yes, I say! I'd asked Angelina for her recommendation between the tteokbokki and the cacio e pepe. I chose the former because i like food with a little heat / kick. But Angelina took the opportunity to send us a complementary cacio e pepe, as well, so we could try both. (I told you she is fabulous!). It is such a basic dish, but when done well, it is amazing. And this was AMAZING! My wife opted for the pasta al limone. It was really delightful... and the crispy fried lemon peel across the top of the plate sent this recipe over the top! My wife said she'd like to go back to Rose's even if only for the pasta al limone!! Our main course was the poached lobster. As a New England native I tend to avoid lobster when I'm in another part of the country, but I really wanted to try the poached lobster so we rolled the dice... and rolled a 7!! Lastly, we ordered dessert from their "Slightly Ridiculously Sized Desserts" menu. An inaccurate name!! They were RIDICULOUSLY sized desserts... there was no 'slightly' about it. We had the baklava sundae. Huge! Divine! This was a tremendous culinary delight... it's a pity were weren't HERE to celebrate our 10th anniversary!! Thank you, Rose's... and Angelina!
Nah.
Not worth. Room temp pasta just to save the seaweed and cold pre-grilled cucumbers are not good, nor becoming of a restaurant aiming to shoot at such a high station. Too clever for your own good. Not worth $250/head. "Free desert" when its included in the tasting menu and every table gets it is a dumb way to feign for more tips. The DIY pasta bag to-go was also not necessary, and seems to have been simply added to amp up the padgeantry (presumably to take focus away from the aforementioned dishes that fell short).
Hands down favorite DC restaurant
I have been here about half a dozen times. Nice without being pretentious. Each meal is unique and thoroughly enjoyable. The staff are great, the chefs bring a special mix and interesting variety with a generosity for guests that keep us coming back. The classic lychee salad is always on menu and a must. They expertly pair drinks through each course in such a way that the whole evening is complete. This is how you dine out in Luxury
A restaurant this good shouldn't be this much fun
It's rare that a restaurant this superb would be this much fun. The food is original, delicious, and distinct -- well worth the price -- but the real joy is the tremendous staff who exude pride and pleasure at presenting the chef's best. Book early & go.
A fallen star...
I can't believe I'm going to say this, but this is no longer a Michelin-starred restaurant. The service is always top-notch, but the food has lacked the creativity it once did. I can imagine that that level of creativity is difficult to maintain over so many years and the restaurant business is incredibly tough, but you don't get to keep your Star indefinitely. This is now a nice, pretty restaurant that has impeccable service and is good for a dinner out. We have lots of those in DC, but for less than the $105pp, which is increasing to $115pp starting 2/1/24 (+drinks+taxes+tip).
Amazing service and food
This is a great spot to good with friends who aren’t afraid to try different food. The service was exceptional! Our server was super friendly and loved to customize our wine to our preference and food. Food was phenomenal. Will for sure go back!
Good food, thoughtful chef, friendly wait staff & hip vibes
For the 5-course meal, I had the signature Pork & Lychee Salad to start, followed by Calamarata alla Vodka (calamari shaped pasta in vodka sauce with squid & thai basil), Poached Lobster for mains, and Baklava Sundae for dessert. The chef was kind enough to serve an extra portion of the Pasta al Limone (spaghetti with butter and lemon) so I could try it, which was a really nice gesture that I appreciated. There was even homemade pasta and cacio e pepe mix to bring home at the end of the meal, which was again a very nice touch. Overall, the food was good, though I would say that the hype and somewhat celebrity status of this place raised my expectations a little too high. The salad was unique and wonderfully refreshing, while the sundae was interesting - it was essentially a deconstructed Baklava. The lobster was very fresh and had the perfect texture, but I didn't quite understand the sauce or how it was meant to enhance the taste. The menu is designed for two (e.g. mains are meant to be shared), and the portions didn't seem to be reduced in my case despite being a single diner, so I was very full at the end of it, but I'm not complaining as it meant good value for money.
We love Michelin restaurants and this one missed their star.
First, I want to start off by saying that every single person we met at Rose Luxury from beginning to end was lovely. The service was gracious, high energy, and adhered to my severe allergy but in terms of being Michelin rated restaurant, my husband and I struggled to understand why. For context, we have dined at these restaurants recently, some of them more than once: Graphite - 1 star Michelin in Amsterdam Gravitas - 1 star Michelin in DC Kinship - 1 star Michelin in DC Helene Darroze - 2-star Michelin in Paris Ducasse, multiple restaurants - As diners know, he gained the most Michelin rated restaurants worldwide. Guy Savoy - 1 and 2 star Michelin rated restaurants. David Toutain - 2-star Michelin rated in Paris Paul Bocuse - 2-star Michelin in Lyon, France And this is our short list of where we have dined across the world as fine dining is a hobby of ours and here is our honest opinion. --First, I tried the caviar and coconut pairing - Nice enough but nothing truly experimental. --My husband had the squash blossom rangoon which we recognize is technically hard to accomplish. It had a solid flavor profile. --We both had pasta dishes that were decent but again it lacked the creativity and edge we are accustomed to at Michelin restaurant globally. --Probably the best thing we ate was the lobster which was moist and came with a nice sauce. Do we think this is a good restaurant? Sure, but Michelin? No, we really did not see that. If we were eating back in Paris, where we live part-time, this would be categorized as a bistro gastronomique not something on a Michelin level. Also, if you do not like pasta (unless the menu changes daily which is the case for some of the restaurants mentioned above) this is likely not a great choice for you. Early this morning, we asked ourselves: "How was it?" and reflected on our dining across the world and settled on "disappointing with really and I do mean REALLY nice people" and considering the reviews we recognize that we are one of the few that have this opinion, but this is our honest and informed review as serial diners.
A Great Restaurant
This is a marvelous prix fixe resto where each diner can pick two faves for each course. Everything was just wonderful; mostly farm to table foods prepared excellently and presented that way, too. The service was outstanding, as is the venue itself. It has a nice wine list, but it also permits corkage (at $35/btl) for your own special wines. This has been a top DC resto for c lose to ten years (I may be wrong), and we haven't had anything less than excellence each time we've dined here.
Fun and tasty!
Wow. It was a lot of fun to have dinner here. The food was delicious with lots of creativity. The staff are attentive and friendly. This was a truly fun and tasty dining experience. Highly recommended.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.

Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
