Food amazing.
Rib Eye and Filet for us both super tasty and tender Service Ed amazing thank you Lauren J. Ambiance, please it sits on a point between Kapalua and Napili bays, it's amazing. Will be back for sure
Be the first to ReplyLoved the ambience and the food was amazing.
The Cesar salad was the best I have ever had. Perfect start to the Poke. Our waiter Josh was very friendly and made sure we were always taken care of at all times. We will definitely return this week!
Be the first to ReplyWe have been to Merriman's several times over the years
We have been to Merriman's several times over the years when visiting Maui so we were pleased to book a table this time around. In the past we like the selections and the quality of the food and the service. This time around we were not that impressed. The staff are excellent, well trained. I appreciated the complementary parking assistance when you arrive as parking has always been very tight. Our table was near the back and away from the windows that did not appeal to us but we did not insist on a change although there were tables elsewhere. The food selections have moved to more of an Asian fusion style that truthfully is not our thing. We order drinks, my guests wanted a Pina Colada as they have had great ones in the past but were surprised to learn that their version is not done with a blender, only over ice which was disappointing. They said they don't have any blenders! The salads were fresh as was the bread. The main selections were expensive (as you would expect) and we each ordered a different dish that was mostly built around seafood. The seafood was good as was the sauces they were cooked in.. The portions were somewhat small but if you like presentation, the dishes were impressive. We were offered deserts but declined. While there was nothing wrong with the food, for the money, we were frankly expecting more so we were disappointed. I doubt we will go again in future.
Be the first to ReplyI have very mixed emotions about this place.
I cannot give a place 5 stars when I spend $200 and walk away hungry. Service is good, although a bit slow at times. But I believe they are a bit short handed. Whatever. If you have to ask how expensive it is, go elsewhere. Ya, very expensive. The portions are small not unlike similar places anywhere. Everything is very good. Beautiful design inside and in the exterior seating area. Also it is one of the most beautiful settings anywhere in the world. Yes, you need a reservation, even for the bar. Also, be warned you can't self park, Valet only. Another cost. We have been to the Kauai location and it was different, slight less expensive and not as spectacular.

Incredible views and amazing service! The food was also excellent. As for drinks, I recommend the black manhattan. It was exceptional. Our family of 6 was very impressed. We will definitely be back.
Be the first to ReplyIf you can get a table you have to try this place.
Beautiful patio over looking the ocean. Amazing food and the service is top knotch.

Absolutely amazing. Lower bar is awesome. Fun vibe not stuffy. We were given an excellent table in the main dining right on the glass. Great sunset experience. Service check. All the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Smiles everywhere you looked. People seem to be genuinely happy to be working here. Food, almost. The quality of the food was good, but seems over engineered with very rich sauces that drowned the flavor and freshness of the food. Had the lamb and my wife had the fish special. We both looked at each other after with that look, "so close". Overall I would recommend a visit for service and ambiance alone.
Be the first to ReplyWe came to Merriman's to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
The location, service, and food was out of this world! Let's start with the location. Located on the Kapalua side of Maui on a point overlooking the water. The restaurant requires reservations but there is an outside area on the point that offers bar bites and drinks. It's first come first serve. Since it was our anniversary we made reservations in advance. Our reservations were at 4:30pm, which didn't give us a table right by the sea side, but the view was still amazing. Once we were seated we were greeted by our waitress Tiffany. She greeted us with Prosecco and acknowledged our anniversary. Such a special way to start the evening. Post sparking wine, we both enjoyed the Merriman's mai tai. The lilikoi foam with egg whites is amazing! Our meal was over the top and I loved every part of it. Our evening stated with an amuse bouche of mushroom soup and homemade bread. We stared with an appetizer which was out of this world. If you like octopus, you have to get the tako l'escargot. Buttery, herb goodness. Pure amazing! For dinner, I ordered the nightly fish special which came with three proteins (all seafood) and a tom kha base. The flavors were so amazing! My husband ordered the red snapper, which was 1.5 lbs! It was giant! Normally for 2 individuals, but he tackled it by himself. I tried a handful of bites. I could have shared it with him. For dessert, we got the chocolate purse which was the gooey ness of a lava cake wrapped in phyllo dough with vanilla ice cream. My love language! To top it off, I enjoyed an espresso martini with dessert. Dinner was beyond amazing along with the service we received all night long.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food quality, service and ambiance.
Our server, Leah, was wonderful and provided excellent suggestions and was very friendly. I had the catch of the day which was small portions of red snapper, one shrimp, and octopus along with Bok Choi. Very tasty but not enough if it given the $72 price tag. Luckily my wife had diver scallops and gave me some of her dinner. We had an excellent the kapoho papaya salad and kalula pork and sweet onion quesadillas as an app. The salad was especially awesome. DO NOT MISS out on having the bread pudding. The bread pudding by itself is reason enough to go to Merriman's. You won't be disappointed. The music performance by a good singer/ guitarist ( Joshua) adds to the ambience. One of my favorite restaurants on Maui, along with Dukes and Mamas Fish House.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic food.
Great service. We will come again. Great views. Valet parking. Specialty fish was delicious
Be the first to ReplyThe setting and views from Merriman's and the restaurant
The setting and views from Merriman's and the restaurant ambience are unbelievably, so beautiful. Service was good although we felt a little rushed. Food was ok but I was expecting more given the price point. The Mahi was over cooked and thus a little dry. The Ahi poke was good. We tried several other more moderate restaurants in Maui with much better fish; eg Paia Fish Market and Three's Maui in Kihei.

We went to Merriman's for a dining 'experience' on Monday and were not disappointed. From the moment we entered the establishment everything was perfection. The beautiful location and spectacular view and just the right live musician in the background. Our friendly, knowledgeable server Dylan was exceptionally good at his job and had knowledge beyond the position he fulfilled. He made our dining experience very enjoyable. Not all server are good servers. Dylan IS an excellent server Every bite of our meal was an experience and I cannot say enough good about the evening. I suggest if you can, you must go yourself and take it all in. Dixie

I don't know the complete lay of the land, but I feel like this is one of the nicer restaurants you could find on Maui. The setting feels super fancy, but is a little forgiving when it comes to dress code. I would say this place is probably perfect in the area for special occasions or nice romantic dinners. My family came here to celebrate my dad's 70th birthday. It was between this place and one of the other famous nice restaurants in the area. My brother and sister-in-law organized and chose this place. Now, the food here is really delicious, but what really makes this place shine is the fantastic service and the gorgeous environment/ambience of the restaurant and its location. My dad left happy and they treated him well which makes me happy. I ordered for the fish of the day for my entrรฉe. I can't exactly remember which type of fish, but it was really good and it was served with a couple of prawns. We also ordered an assortment of the appetizers which all were pretty good. For beverages, I usually like whiskey straight up, but at nicer restaurants, I typically order cocktails because they always look fun, and I feel like it's another item that the restaurant has created for the customers. So why not give them a whirl? And I ordered the Merriman Mai Tai and the No Ka' Oi. Both were super tasty and I liked the foam on top of the mai tai a lot. Right after I ate, I took a step outside to the balcony to take a look at the view. Absolutely gorgeous. I feel like the view was baked into the price of the menu, lol. They then brought out a plate to wish my dad a happy birthday with some chocolate cake on it. Overall, this place has great service, delicious food, and just provides a great experience. I definitely would come back, but for my wallet, it's definitely a special occasion type thing.
Be the first to ReplyDecent food and pay a premium for the view.
If you are seated outside during sunset it's priceless. Although I may go there again I feel there is better offerings nearby for the same price and quality. Service was decent but nothing exceptional.
Be the first to ReplyI love this place.
It's expensive but worth it. The environment is absolutely incredible. The Ocean views the sunset was amazing. We had a nice table good wine, food and the service was impeccable
Be the first to ReplyCame here to celebrate my wife's Birthday.
Hard to beat this place. Location , food , vibes will be back soon everything tasted so amazing and service was excellent.

I am lucky to live on Maui and Merriman's Kapalua is my favorite restaurant on the island. The food, service and views are all spectacular!! I loved the fixed menu so much and heard they did away with it. Trust me, I'll still go but it was so fun to get to choose one item in each category. It's just such a great opportunity to get to try everything.Don't miss out on the amazing place.

The food was fantastic, the service was great and you could see whales in the channel. Why mess up a good thing with LOUD, IRRITATING MUSIC?! It was so loud we had to practically shout at each other and our order was not heard correctly even after we were moved to a somewhat quieter table. The music was a female singer doing mostly 70's cover music-all the same rhythm. If you are going to have music, how about some mellow Hawaiian music-support the local talent and provide some cultural enlightenment. We moved down to the patio for an after dinner drink. It was a nice until they starting piping the music down there. It was even in the bathroom! A very expensive evening of great food and drink that was marred by the excessive noise.

We reserved long in advance to celebrate a birthday & anniversary, requesting a table with a close view to the sunset. We were greeted and seated promptly close to our reservation time. The ambiance of this venue is so incredibly beautiful, there were several newly marrieds and one wedding during our dining experience. The overall staff experience is stellar, however our waiter, although efficient, wasn't warm & fuzzy. He gave us plenty of time to enjoy our cocktails before ordering. Every item on your farm-to-fork plate is as fresh as you will ever get it. I had the macadamia-nut crusted mahi-mahi and my husband the rib eye steak. Both cooked to perfection and we ate every bite. The desserts were beautifully presented with our birthday & anniversary wishes written in chocolate, in Hawaiian. Those were good but we liked dessert at Monkey Pod better. Their deck was lit with tiki torches and the palm trees gently swayed in the light breeze. There are few sunsets anywhere in the world better than this. Highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyWe expected special and that's what they provided.
Outstanding service, and excellent food experience. The tasting menu is more of a 3 course prix fixe, but they let you double up on apps if dessert isn't your thing. The atmosphere is incredible, fullyleveraging the location.
Be the first to ReplyDo yourself a favor and spend your $ anywhere else but here.
It does not live up to the hype. We sat at the bar and had some of the worst service I've ever experienced (self admitted by the bartenders themselves). They were more interested in talking to the other servers than paying attention to the patrons at the bar spending $400 on a dinner bill. The managers never came by to check in and we're more interested in stuffing their faces with dinners at the table next to us vs making sure everything was ok with their customers. Felt more like a Dennys than a fine dining restaurant. Hopefully they get their stuff together and fix these management and service issues. Too many better options on the island to spend your $ at vs this.
Be the first to ReplyAfter eagerly anticipating our vacation, we found
After eagerly anticipating our vacation, we found ourselves in Maui with a craving for both margaritas and the renowned Mai Tai. Thus, the Guacarita Gals began their quest for the perfect Mai Tai, as we scoured the island in search of this iconic drink. One evening, we secured a reservation at Merriman's after booking three weeks in advance. Despite being limited to a 4:00 reservation, we eagerly arrived at the bar to enjoy the stunning view of Kapalua Bay. Even without a table, the experience was worthwhile. With a stroke of luck, the restaurant received a 4:30 cancellation and we were seated on the coveted side deck with one of the best tables in the restaurant. We were thoroughly impressed with the Mai Tai at Merriman's - it had a fantastic flavor and was one of the best we tasted on Maui. The combination of high-quality ingredients and presentation made for an unforgettable experience. The drink was perfectly balanced with just the right amount of sweetness and tartness, and the high-quality rum added a depth of flavor and richness that set it apart. The Mai Tai included Kula White and Dark Rums, Orange Curacao, House-Made Macadamia Nut Orgeat, Lime, and the secret ingredient - Honey-Lilikoi foam. The frothy mixture of honey and lilikoi was the perfect addition, adding an attractive element to the drink that foamed and frothed over the rim of the glass. But what truly made the Mai Tai at Merriman's stand out was the stunning restaurant view of Kapalua Bay. Combining this incredible drink with one of the best views in the area made for a night to remember. Overall, if you're looking for an unforgettable Mai Tai experience on Maui, Merriman's is a must-visit destination. If Merriman's is beyond your budget, you can still enjoy the same delicious Mai Thai at their sister restaurant, Monkey Pod Kitchen, located in Lahaina at Whaler's Village. Monkey Pod offers a similar high-quality experience with the added benefit of a more accessible price point. So whether you choose to indulge at Merriman's or opt for a visit to Monkey Pod Kitchen, this Mai Tai is not to be missed on your visit to Maui
Be the first to ReplyWe are big Merriman's fans having visited their restaurants
We are big Merriman's fans having visited their restaurants many times on the different islands. We were very disappointed with the whole dining experience on Friday night. It was so loud that my iwatch kept buzzing me that noise level was between 86- 97 db (Anything over 85db requires hearing protection in an industrial setting). It was so loud that impossible to have a conversation so we all just sat there. After about 20 minutes, we asked to change tables and we were met with a hostess asking us if it was really necessary, a very mad waiter for switching tables, indifferent food and skipping of one of the courses we ordered of their mandatory prix fixed dinner. (No handover of the order from the original waiter to our new waiter)So the evening was a total miss in ambiance, food and service. This was truly disappointing after making these reservations 6 months ago for our final vacation dinner in Maui. I doubt we'd ever go back to the Kapalua location. So my advice is if this happens to you, just leave. The rest of your evening won't be worth it.

Be the first to Reply5 star for the sunset and atmosphere 4 star for the food
5 star for the sunset and atmosphere 4 star for the food because everyone's mahi mahi was on the dry side and the coconut rice was undercooked. The ahi poke, bread, and kid's veggies were perfect! I'd come back because it was still a great time and my kids loved it so much (the the Mai Thai was to die for!! Best Mai Thai of my life)
