Niku Niku Japanese Barbecue Seattle Reviews from The Last Year

We had a party of six, four adults and two kids (4 & 5), with tax and gratuity (automatic 18% add-on) was about $208. Kids are charged based on height. The food is fine, nothing spectacular. I think they could elevate the experience if they used charcoal instead of gas because the meat had a propane aftertaste. I do appreciate that they have quite a selection of hot foods for customers to choose from, which is great for kids. One thing I do want to recommend is to order your meats double portions each time because they don't give you much. One hour into our dining, our server came back and said this would be our last order because the limit for each table is 90 minutes. Honestly, I wouldn't need to double my order amount if service was quicker, but my goodness, they were slow and sometimes missed a portion of our order. Overall experience was mediocre. I wouldn't be the one suggesting to dine at this place unless my friends convince me to go with them.
When this restaurant was Niku Niku, everything was so
When this restaurant was Niku Niku, everything was so delicious. After the revamp to Niku Feast, everything has gone downhill. Sure I understand for the price of $32, some meats will not be great quality but ALL of the cuts of meat were so tough and chewy. If you have bad teeth, you probably cannot eat any of the meat here. The pictures of the meat on the menu don't look anything like what they actually serve. The picture of the roasted sesame salad on the menu has tomatoes and onions in it but what was served was just cut up romaine lettuce with dressing. The corn cheese is just corn with maybe 2-3 shreds of cheese. The salad bar was a mess. I sat next to the salad bar and the entire time I was there not one person came to clean up the mess. I felt like the waiter or anyone at the restaurant wasn't even trying. The waiter brought out cooked appetizers and proceeded to place them on top of the trays that had raw meat. It's a shame that the really nice grill system is just wasted here. I think it's better to save your money and go to Seoul Meat Co.
The cuisine is excellent, but the all-you-can-eat (AYCE)
The cuisine is excellent, but the all-you-can-eat (AYCE) service model leaves much to be desired. Diners are told they have 90 minutes from the moment they're seated; however, in practice, the ordering window is cut to just one hour. Typically, one would expect to place their final order at the 90-minute mark, but here, you're given 90 minutes to dine with orders being restricted after the first hour. I visited during a Saturday evening, which may have impacted my experience. After ordering my selection of meats, it took 20 minutes before any of them arrived. Losing a significant portion of the allotted time to waiting was frustrating, especially with the strict timing rules. The quality of the meat and the affordability of the meal are highlights. To avoid feeling rushed, I recommend visiting on a slower weekday. This may allow for a more relaxed dining experience without the pressure of the restaurant's timing constraints.

My girlfriend and I took a trip to seattle for our anniversary and I was tasked with looking for an anniversary dinner. This place popped up on my yelp after being on the 15th page of yelp and came across Niku Niku and decided we were gonna go here. The place ended up being 25 mins outside of the city, so we ubered and honestly was so happy with everything. The service was absolutely amazing. The server we had was very informative on all the menu items and also recommended items and also told us what not to get. He also helped cook some of the meat, which was nice. Very similar to KBBQ but i think the meat quality is bettter in Japanese BBQ. Everything we had was amazing, I highly recommend ordering a la carte for the meat vs the combo. Over ambiance is nice, very relaxing yet still aesthetically pleasing.

Came after they shifted to AYCE and was sad to find that the quality of meat has gone down. We got the following from the AYCE menu: Onion rings - pretty good Cheese corn - lacked cheese so the corn didn't stick together Ribeye - bland and tough Marinated karubi - this was pretty good Pork belly - bland and tough Shrimp - I didn't have this myself but it seemed ok King oyster mushroom - good AYCE also includes sides, fruits, miso soup, rice with topping options of curry or gyu don. Overall, it's still a good value for the price. Note: if you're a fan of the oishi rice like me, sad news... it has been removed from the menu.
We visited this place for some Wagyu beef after seeing some
We visited this place for some Wagyu beef after seeing some rave reviews online. The meat definitely did not disappoint. We got the Wagyu combo and overall the combo was nice. Sadly, the combo doesn't not include any good A5 cuts. The ambiance of the restaurant is very nice and upscale but it is inside a grocery store and feels very out of place when you enter. The service was very nice, the waiter explained us the different drinks they serve and we love their Nigori. Overall, it was a good experience but I do feel that the amount of good cuts meat served in the combo is very less. It does fill us two average people due to all the filler carbs in the combo.
Another surprise in Van
What a place, we had a bd dinner and experience a great evening. Shivan was our server and went the extra mile. We had multiple types of beef and veggies to close with a smir. Great evening thank you
Great food selection.
Nice ambience and staff give guests full attention. I suggest booking a reservation if you are planning for a large group or dining at a busy time

Went here with my 10y/o son for a special dinner (his Christmas present). Had a reservation and they were able to seat us early on a Saturday night, which was nice. Our server, Jim, was prompt in taking our drink orders. We got the wagyu sampler and a side of A5 ribeye heart. The service and food were excellent. For our first time at a Japanese steak house, they were very helpful in showing us how to grill, which sauces to use, etc. The experience overall was excellent, good value for the money, and we will surely be back!
Niku Niku is located inside a small unassuming mall.
The interior decor is super modern and cool, dim lighting with minimal neon lights. We got the wagyu combo set menu where you can choose a few different options amongst the set. As part of the set menu, you can choose their yuzu soba cold noodles for an extra $5. I'd highly recommend the yuzu soba noodles. It has a unique flavor with a hint of wasabi, super delicious and refreshing. The wagyu set menu comes with the wagyu meat cuts, a bunch of sides, two soups, two salads, and two tacos. It's not cheap but definitely worth ordering. It is a lot of food for two people. If you come with three or four people, I'd recommend ordering a few additional meats on top of the wagyu set and it should be perfect. Japanese bbq paired with a cold beer is perfect. I'd highly recommend this spot for Japanese bbq.
They advertise as closing at 9pm on Sundays.
I get there at 8:27pm and they refuse to serve me. I'm there from Vancouver with my family, including children, and they tell me they won't serve me as I'm too late and they were closing. There were still people eating inside but they insisted I was too late. Awfully rude people and disrespectful to customers who literally drove over 2 hrs to get there. They were not even apologetic. If you plan to dine here, plan ahead and get here hours before they're advertised closing time, or call ahead before you get there.
Great Food!
A group of us came here for dinner. You need to make reservations online. Our group was given a 2 hour dining period which wasn’t enforced on a week night. We ordered the set menu which consisted a lot of meat dishes. If you are a carnivore, you’ll love this place. We had starters of Gyu - Kaku salad and edamame to S’mores for dessert. *Must order dish - Sukiyaki fried rice was everyone’s favourite! Flavourful and tasty! Ambiance: 4/5 Service: 5/5 - servers were helpful in telling us how long to grill various meats Food: 5/5 - good selection of meats but lacking a good selection of vegetables Parking: paid lot next to the restaurant at Nelson just before you turn right onto Howe. A challenge as restaurant is on a one-way street, Nelson.
Good all round experience
Busy atmosphere good vibe excellent service good portions and family style BBQ with Japanese twist what’s not to like?
Excellent tappanyaki
This is a very friendly restaurant with a good and varied menu at very reasonable prices, 4 of us dined here and had a wide variety of food, some drinks and only cost $116. It’s well located. We actually visited here a second time during our 8 day trip to Vancouver
Full house on Monday night! Excellent dinner.
Enjoyed an excellent meal in a fun environment. Attentive service and very fair prices make for a terrific value. The high rating is 100% deserved!

Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.

Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it? |
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid? |
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted. |
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from? |
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered? |
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
Newbie sellers— how fast do your reservations sell?
I have some reservations coming up tomorrow that have gotten lots of views but haven’t sold yet. I haven’t made a sale yet since I just joined this week. I keep lowering the price, but am worried they won’t sell. How long did it take you to sell your first reservations? And did you have success being reimbursed by AT for no-show or cancellation fees? Just looking for a little reassurance. Thanks!

How to list a Nobu Malibu reservation
Hi, I have a reservation to Nobu Malibu, but since they don't do text or e-mail confirmations I haven't been able to get my reservation posted. I have posted a screen shot of the phone conversation on the listing, but it keeps getting rejected. If anyone has an idea how I can get it approved that would be much appreciated, thanks!

I posted a request for a reservation this Thursday between 6:30 and 8 pm and initially the potential seller said it would be fulfilled by today. Now they changed it that they will only fulfill it by 5pm that same day. Basically I would have an hour and a half to get to the restaurant. Is this allowed?

This app is a catfish and overrun by people programming “bots” and algorithms. It makes it frustrating for someone not well versed in this to have any movement. I thought this would be a fun side hustle, but unfortunately it’s become like any other “side hustle”. Don’t waste your time with this crap. Not a question, just a suggestion. Also don’t pay these fake “gurus” hundreds of dollars to teach you. Might as well sign up for a software class. 😕
