🤢 2/5 - You Pay for Ambiance and Food; Not for Service

Omar's La Ranita is both a restaurant AND a private dining club (where you pay an annual fee in the thousands for access to the establishment and certain "benefits" listed on their website.) Their branding and design sell their product - luxury elitist dining -
insanely well. Where the product suffers is staff etiquette and customer service.
PROS: Gorgeous ambiance; hidden; quiet; feels exclusive and intimate; private dining rooms for large groups; plays up the "private dining club" feel
CONS: Some, but not all, staff members were needlessly pretentious, if not outright rude; the menu is very good, but cost to value ratio is negotiable. Is it really a bar/pub? Not really. Is the food Mediterranean? Not really. Oh - and check the bill at the end of the night. The feeling was that they were more interested in making money, than actually curating a fabulous dining experience for the guests.
OVERALL: If you are looking to spend over $1000/year on a private dining club and want a quiet place to hide from the world, this is your place. But if you want generous customer service, and to feel like this is your "home away from home" you would be better off putting the money towards being a regular at any of the fantastic restaurants nearby or at any of the luxurious hotel bars that abound in New York City. This place would do well to remember that visual ambiance is not a substitute for efficiency and basic decency with customers.
