Roy's Restaurant Anaheim Reviews from The Last Year

Amazing service, excellent food, top of the line dessert! This is my third year frequenting this restaurant and it has only gotten better!

We came for the Mother's Day brunch last week and I had forgotten how much I loved Roy's. We sat on the patio and had a lovely time. The service was amazing! All the food was fabulous. I'm gonna have to come back more often
Mother's Day Brunch Disaster!!! Our Mother's Day brunch
Mother's Day Brunch Disaster!!! Our Mother's Day brunch experience at this restaurant was a nightmare. Despite making reservations in advance and being promised a delightful three-course meal, the reality was far from it. Firstly, the wait times were utterly unacceptable. We sat down eagerly, excited to celebrate, only to wait over an hour for the first course to arrive. An hour! Our appetites had waned by the time it did, and our patience was wearing thin. The main dish was an even bigger disappointment. Another agonizing hour and a half passed before our plates were finally set before us. By then, any semblance of enjoyment had evaporated, replaced by frustration and hunger. The food quality was mediocre at best, and it was certainly not worth the interminable wait. Dessert was rushed out in a mere ten minutes. Three hours for a brunch is absurd, mainly when it's meant to be a special occasion like Mother's Day. To top it all off, this entire debacle cost us over $400 for a four-party. For that price, one would expect impeccable service and culinary masterpieces, neither of which were delivered. The management's lack of organization and consideration for their patrons' time is appalling. This experience left a sour taste in our mouths, and needless to say, we won't be returning anytime soon. Save yourself the disappointment and steer clear of this establishment, especially for special occasions.
Our Mother's Day experience was a trainwreck.
As of drafting this review, I'm still sitting at my table and have waited 2+ hours and my main course still hasn't come out. And our waitress hasn't revisited our table in forever. The manager came around and "assured" us that the food would come around, but he didn't give use a set time frame. Worst of all, there was no attempt at compensating our meal for the extremely excessive wait. All of this for $800+!!??? It's a shame that Roy's has such disregard for their guests that their way of celebrating Mother's Day is to try and make excuses for their inability to put out food on time. NEVER COMING BACK AGAIN!
Went here for Mother's Day brunch with prefixed menu.
The service was good and that's why the 2 stars or I would give 1 star for food, but it took forever for the food to come out even though we were one of the first few tables there. The food was terrible for the price they charged. I was expecting better flavored food for the price they charged but nope everything was either bland or super salty. The only good item was the crab and shrimps cocktail. Even the kids menu items were bad and fast food would have tasted better
worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant.
Was in town for a conference at the convention center and booked Roy's for a customer dinner. we arrived on time, it was very busy which was not an issue but it was so loud. Horrible acoustics pretty much sounds like youre in a Chuck E Cheese so very hard to have a conversation. We ordered our food at 725 received our appetizers and then waited till 850 almost an hour and half before our food came out. Our waitress told us there was an issue with the kitchen and when the manager came over he lied and said it was just a busy night. Every restaurant in the area was reservation only so they should have expected a busy night. Would never eat here again and confirmed we do not have additional dinners here for the rest of the trip.
Just concluded diinner on 5/08/24 and waited 1.
5 hours for my entree.....Had such high hopes for Roy's , such a total let down. AND good thing my apetite had died, because portions were like a kids meal. The interior, ambiance is very outdated, really expect much more for the price point.

Selected Roy's for a romantic birthday dinner with my husband. This didn't disappoint. The service was top notch, received a kind birthday note and a candle with our dessert. The food was prompt and delicious and the manager came over to check on things. If you want a delicious meal with lots of flavor, great service and yummy cocktails then Roy's is the spot.
brought my wife for her birthday (today) & we both loved
brought my wife for her birthday (today) & we both loved the hospitality of the staff, from our waiter to the front desk guys. our waiter checked up on us often, which was a PLUS in our books. lunch menu is simple yet delicious, portions are just the right size. not too crowded yet for lunch then again its a Tues but we both love the quite & calm vibe. will for sure recommend to friends & family.

We went during a busy tradeshow week and the food was likely delayed for big party in private room. The party was not tradeshow related. Our drinks and Appetizers were timely as this held us over getting a canoe for 5 people. The ribs were good, as well as the Chicken Eggroll. The calamari was ok, little chewy. I got the ButterFish which was served over rice. It was really good. The temp, glaze and size was worthy of top review. Our guests got braised rib and also were impressed.
A very nice surprise while in Anaheim for Disneyland
Delicious food and friendly service. We had the shrimp tempura and the scallops for main dish. Both were amazing. Will definitely come back.
Nice place to celebrate birthday, good service and food.
I love the scallops and the black rice. It is so good. The blackened ahi was cooked perfectly. The short ribs are also good. My daughter's butterfish is, however, too lemony and the bisque soup is kind of salty.
Excellent as always
I confirm the review from a few years ago... Excellent quality of the dishes and the service. We opted for a dinner based on fish and roys so this is a guarantee. The freshly made pineapple dessert is also delicious.
I received an email from Roy's that offered a $40 discount
I received an email from Roy's that offered a $40 discount off of a $100 purchase, good for dine-in or takeout. The coupon stated that it was good at the Anaheim location. When I called to place a takeout order, I was told that the manager wasn't honoring the coupon for takeout orders. Really?! I wouldn't be surprised if the coupon was not valid for dine-in either. Bait and switch does not look good for any business.
And because literally every single person i encountered in
And because literally every single person i encountered in Japan and Hawaii were extremely nice, i just had the expectation that this restaurant will give that same vibe. Sometimes food tastes better when you get great and friendly service. This restaurant felt short, i had much better meals at a fraction of the price elsewhere. I also got the feeling that my behaved 5 month old (and actually the reason why we came-to celebrate a milestone) wasn't welcomed here. We've been to other fine dining/celebrity chefs restos with our baby and never got the odd energy we received from roy's staff. Food was extremely disappointing for what we paid for. Not even worth trying at all.

We have gone to Roy's in the past for various special occasions and we're generally pleased with the quality of food, ambiance, and service, but sadly after returning it's not the case. There's too many great restaurants out there to choose from so I don't think we'll be comMing again anytime soon.
Food was amazing.
Everything was delicious, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. I was still craving it and raving about it months later. Their butterfish melts in your mouth. Chocolate cake was very delicious.
Roy's is always a solid choice.
.. that said, it is not what it used to be. The ambiance is classy, the bar has almost everything you could want (but not Drambue), the server's know the menu and the food is solid... but not great... Somewhere along the way the focus of Roy's has shifted from "The Fish" to "The Sauces" and that is a big mistake, particularly, when it comes to white meat fish with subtle tastes. Strong sauces overwhelm the fish and all that is left is the taste of the sauce. Why pay for fish if you can't taste it? The sushi is 5-star and I can wholeheartedly recommend Auntie Lei's Aloha roll... a delicious mix of spicy tuna, albacore and salmon! My disappointment was the Classic Four fish sampler. Solidly prepared and attractively dished, the disappointment was that the sauces overwhelmed the fish. Roy's used to be a standout because of their uncanny ability to draw out the subtle nuance of incredibly delicate fish. I look forward to the day I can enjoy that mastery again.

Business meal, there was a show at the convention center so it was the perfect location. Made a reservation and the table was ready for us. We started with egg rolls (stuffed with glass noodles) and the calamari- had a sweet & sour sauce with a Touch of spicy that was great. We also ordered white wine and our waiter came with an ice bucket and kept it cold for us! That was great. We shared a lobster bisque that is also a fusion dish that has coconut milk instead of heavy cream and OH MY! Great as usual. We wished we hadn't shared lol Main dishes were the butter fish - as the name indicates is soft and melts in your mouth; slowly cooked for a long time achieves its texture but still, it has a crispy crust that makes it even more delicious! The macadamia nut crusted fish is my go-to dish here, together with the lobster sauce it's a perfect combo! For desert we also shared the guava crumble that comes warm so it melts the vanilla ice cream and it's absolutely delicious!
The service is nice at the bar.
They have great bar tenders and will guide you thru some great wines they have as well as apps and meal choices.
We read about so many lives lost to drunk or DUI drivers
We read about so many lives lost to drunk or DUI drivers that my wife and I decided this year to just have a quiet, early dinner for NYE. I wanted to go to West Hollywood or DTLA but she wanted to stay close to home. So we compromised with Roys in Anaheim at the Garden Walk. Parking, on this evening was busy with a queue about 12 cars deep just to get into the parking garage. Luckily, they had EV chargers open, so we got a good spot and charged at the same time! The wait was fairly short, but they were taking walk-in's. We were disappointed that so many people were dressed casually while my wife and I took the time to look nice (at least for each other, but heck, that's what it's all about anyway, right?) especially on NYE. You'll get a mix of people here from tourists visiting Disneyland from all over the world, to locals, like ourselves, looking for a nice night out, to business people trying to seal the deal (I kid you not, there were some guys next to us talking about real estate (on NYE!)). The service was impeccable as was the food. We were disappointed that the chocolate souffle was not offered on the NYE prix fixe menu. However, what was on the menu was stunning. The lobster bisque, which I order at other restaurants when I get a chance, was absolutely amazing. It was velvety with good pieces of lobster, not just an essence. My wife's tuna poke was likewise superb and, to date, is her favorite, bar none. Unlike a traditional poke served over rice, this was molded with avocado and served next to won ton chips. It truly was delicious. For the next course, I ordered the filet mignon, medium, with lump crab cake and added a lobster tail (the dish comes only with the crab cake and filet) and my wife had the Chilean Sea bass (one of her go-to dishes when it's available). My steak was cooked perfectly, with just the right amount of pink in the center with a good char on the outside. The lobster tail was juicy and not overcooked (unlike Hell's kitchen... SMH). The lump crab cake was free of shell pieces and not overly salty nor overly breaded. The Yukon mashed potatoes, like the bisque, was velvety smooth, with a hint of butter and natural potato flavors. The asparagus was excellent as well as the truffle onion and misoyaki demi-glace. The sea bass was delightful (I'm running out of superlatives and descriptives here...). It, too, wasn't overcooked and was moist and flavorful. My wife's eyes just about popped out of her head with the first bite. She loves fish, but really, really loved this. The garlic noodles under the fish gave just enough contrast in flavors and textures to enhance the bass without being distracting. The Nishime vegetables and Thai lime emulsion, likewise, were a perfect compliment. As our meal also included dessert, we opted for the guava panna cotta. I'm not a fan of guava, but my wife is. All I can say is that I'm a fan now. At least if it's prepared like Roy's. It was a white chocolate mousse with strawberry champagne sauce and pink peppercorns. There was also an edible flower garnish. I never eat the flower garnish, regardless of restaurant, but tonight I decided to give it a try. It was delicious. Also, whoever thought of mixing peppercorns with a sweet dessert should be knighted! Amazing juxtaposition of flavors. We ended the evening with a toast and some champagne and beat the erratic and inebriated drivers and were able to kiss our kids, all four of them, goodnight as we waited for 2024 to roll in. While not as pompous and spectacular as our other NYE's, this one was delicious and meaningful. A wonderful dinnner and night with my wife, and a warm homecoming to my kids. If 2024 is anything like this night, we'll need another reservation at Roy's... make that several reservations and a chocolate souffle.
Delicious food. Excellent service.
Excellent food and service. Generous portions. We split appetizers and a main course, then the chocolate soufflé. The lobster dumplings were amazing.
Upscale Hawaiian fusion spot
Upscale Hawaiian focused spot in the Garden Walk. Came here for dinner with my parents on a Friday evening and made a reservation in advance. We had the canoe sampler for the appetizer and even though it’s meant for two people, we were able to split it amongst the three of us. My dad particularly loves the spring rolls they have. I had the jumbo tiger shrimp as my entree, which came with 6 pieces of shrimp and a very small amount of noodles. My mom had the classic combo, while my dad had an order of a sushi roll. They were out of salmon on that particular night and so the classic four dish was unavailable. The entrees were all on the smaller side, so I would suggest ordering some sides if you’re on the hungrier side. Service was friendly and checked in on us often. They inquired about allergies at the beginning of the meal and since my mom is allergic to shrimp, they were very clear and direct in terms of what may potentially trigger her allergies. Credit cards accepted. Paid garage parking (no street parking available). Bathrooms located in the back right hand side. It is good for large groups.

Great Service - amazing dinner!!
Read about the site in NYT and bought a reservation at Mother Wolf in LA 2 days later. Worked great and the food was amazing!!!
Worked perfectly!
Got the reservation (that I couldn't get anywhere else) and was able to entertain a group of friends at the infamous Bern's Steakhouse.
Got into Nobu Malibu
Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!
Very easy
Was very hesitant going into this experience but am glad to say that it worked out very well ! will definitely use appointment trader in the future
Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!
Great reviewer team
Just wanted to take a second to shout out the reviewer team. Even though they probably review hundreds of listings and bids a day, they still take the time to leave great comments and respond relatively quickly. Thanks!
Incredible
I got a reservation to Don Angie, which I've been trying to book for weeks! I am very happy with this service.
Best platform out there!
Super simple, easy, and fast to secure reservations for hard-to-get restaurants and locations!
This app is life changing
This app has opened my world up to so many wonderful new experiences I would never have the chance to have without access to this awesome app! 10/10!
Worked perfectly
Was a little nervous at first but was pleased to see that the booking went through flawlessly.
Highly recommended.
Success on Short Notice

So glad I came across this app :)
Quick table in Miami
I didn’t have my hopes high as it was a party of 4. In 24 hours I had a carbone reservation available! I was very happy as my family really wanted to come here

perfect
Worked well, got me into a restaurant with no availability
I was skeptical, and I still don't really know how they managed to find this hard-to-find reservation, but it was a win-win from my point of view, and I'll use this service again.
Last minute reservation for Delilah Las Vegas
Got a last minute reservation, dinner for 2 at Delilah Las Vegas: super impressed! The process was simple, transaction seamless. We had an amazing time! Couldn’t be happier! 😍
It works!
Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!
Money transfer
As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.
Love this app
Got to go to places otherwise unreachable
Easy Access
Very easy to get into one of the hardest restaurants to reserve in New York.
Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

I will give you 50% of ALL of my PROFITS if you teach me how to make profits?
LOL. Thank you The New Yorker.
Appointment
Transferring reservations is not supported in AT. Why not just use the name in the AT screenshot?
Buyers interested in Bern's Steakhouse: PLEASE READ
Same goes for 4 Charles and I Sodi
Prepaid Reservation Fee
Agreed. Ultimately not addressing this month after month is clearly resulting in a drop in certain venue’s rankings & sales.
Congrats on 3 mil
🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🧨🧨🧨 now on to 30 mill!
Need to cancel a bid, not getting a response… how do I do it?
Click on "Take off the Market Option" in your portfolio
Working on your bid?
Your bid has been “matched” with a reservation. From the time a reservation has been located, the seller of the reservation must connect with moderator to give transfer information for reservation. If the seller;however, does NOT respond to reservation transfer, then your bid is reprocessed and returns to the first step, which is connecting your request to a reservation.
Process after bid is accepted.
Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
