Sammy's Bar-B-Q Dallas Reviews from The Last Year
Amazing BBQ lunch
We had an awesome Texas BBQ experience at Sammy's while visiting Dallas on a family trip. The food was great and we loved the atmosphere and the staff at this Dallas institution. We met the owner too and he could not have been nicer. Great brisket, pulled pork and turkey - and the sides were all delicious too including beans, cole slaw and mac and cheese.

Delicious Bbq, with red rings on the tasty, juicy brisket and ribs. Friendly staff with great explanation of the food. Loved it !
As always great brisket and sides.
Can't go wrong with this Dallas BBQ spot for a quick business lunch or to meet up with a group.

You gotta love a place that puts the Gonzales Flag on its takeaway cups. But Sammy's also has a great room (albeit with odd temperature zones), good eats and friendly workers who checked on us repeatedly while we lingered for hours. Good prices, I suppose (cheaper than where I'm from, if not inexpensive). The brisket and jalapeño sausage were quite good, the pork loin was fine and the sauce was not really that exciting (sweeter and less piquant than I prefer). The sides I had (mac and cheese and potato casserole) looked a lot better than they actually were. Portions were generous for the price. Certainly not the ridiculous crowds one sees at some places on a Saturday. I'd certainly return and I'd bring others (I could go for more of that brisket right now, the next morning). Looking forward to doing so on my next trip to the neighborhood, in fact.

This is the 2nd year that I ordered my holiday meal well in advance just to call and find out they would not have my order because they were out of ribs! They ruined my Christmas meal last year. I decided to give them another chance this year for Thanksgiving. Now I have to figure out what to do so that we have Thanksgiving dinner. Uuuggghhhh!!! My suggestion is to never depend on them for the holiday!
Disappointed every time I have been there .
BBQ is bland and small chinchy portions . Girls are pretty but snobby . The girls are their " main attraction ".. Went to Panther City BBQ and there was no comparison , Chopped sandwich at both places are $12 , BUT the Panther City sandwiches are TWICE the size and TWICE as good ... If you want to see pretty girls , go to a beauty pageant , if you want the best BBQ in town go to Panther City BBQ.
Great BBQ experience in a central location
Excellent place for tourists to try the Texan BBQ experience. The staff are super friendly and let us in before official opening rather than have us wait outside. The atmosphere feels authentic but bear in mind that this is coming from a European who doesn't get to sample Texan BBQ that often. Worth stopping by and sampling their menu.
My review is for food only.
I did not visit the restaurant, my order was picked up and delivered to me. The ribs yuck! They taste like they were boiled then put on the grill (maybe), and they were dry and old! The sausage didn't appear to have stayed on the grill for very long (sort of like it was warmed) but it at least tasted pretty good! Of the three meats I tasted, the chopped brisket was the best, but because the sauce is so greasy, I didn't really enjoy that either! The sides were the best thing they have going at Sammy's. Onion rings (even after traveling from the restaurant to the office, they were great and Aunt Glenda's potato casserole was good. Overall, nothing about this restaurant speaks to authentic Texas bbq, except the sides and the decor that I saw online!
