This experience was the ultimate disappointment. After dining at many of the Alinea group restaurants, we were so excited to experience the St. Clair Supper Club! We purchased tickets for the Valentine's Day pre fixe menu for just under $400 for two (wine pairing not included). Let's start with being seated: the tables were so uncomfortably close together that you could not be seating without disrupting both tables dining next to you - as in they had to physically put down their silverware and pickup and move their table. Yikes. I am typically okay with close quarters but this was brutal. We started with the oysters - phenomenal, followed by the shrimp cocktail which was very fresh. We were utterly disappointed by the caesar salad as it was very "okay;" I find chopped iceberg lettuce to be underwhelming at this price point. The mussels were seasoned exceptionally well (my husband who doesn't like mussels enjoyed these!). The pasta was good, and the meat was fine although there just wasn't anything special about the meat... nothing special at all. We poured our own wine almost the entire dinner which we are very okay doing but the service and staff overall felt unengaged and overwhelmingly busy. This was SO disappointing as a reflection of the Alinea group.
