Everything was perfectly cooked (as always) and I love trying a new dish each time, only got photos from the leftovers I had the next day Ebi Bites (crispy tempura shrimp) Kani Korokke (melt in your mouth crab croquettes) Kinoko Katzu (blue oyster mushroom deep fried) Matcha (Matcha mousse and chocolate cake topped with Matcha crumble)
Terrible experience. Senior management is non existent. They overcharge (double the bill) and take 5 days to refund
Myself, my husband and son visited Sticks and Sushi Oxford (Westgate) on 6th May for the very first time. The food was nice, the waitering service was also good however, overall experience was a complete let down by the senior management. Our bill came to £156.94 which my husband paid promptly. A few seconds later, the manager (Petra) came to tell us that the payment did not go through. My husband showed Petra his bank account app and that the payment did go through - it was NOT showing in the "pending payments" sections. Petra said she will have to charge us again and then refund the money straight away if it's proven that we've been overcharged. Bear in mind by this point we paid over £300 for a lunch for 3 people. Nobody called us nor refunded us our money that day. The next day, my husband called to chase for his refund. The girl he spoke to confirmed with him that he's been overcharged. He later called and spoke to Petra again who told my husband it will take up to 5 days to receive his money back. This is exceptional bad service. From our end, we have proven we have paid straight away, whilst the company itself did could not prove we didnt pay. Despite this, they have decided to overcharge us and keep our money for 5 days. To make things worse, my husband posted a review on this page about the whole experience, review which was deleted a few days later, instead of apologising. I still have a copy of the receipt, in case whoever manages their posts needs to look at. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE for such a large company!
Good Food, Good Service
From the moment we arrived we were well looked after by Melissa. Being gluten free, I was told that the gluten free menu was online. It was explained that although the food is gluten free, it is prepared in the same kitchen as all the other food, so was I prepared to accept that. I am not super sensitive so said that was fine. Between us, we ordered a variety of options and every one of them was beautifully cooked and had amazing flavour. We would definitely recommend this restaurant as I wasn't ill after eating here and the food and service were very good.

I’ve been here twice now and both times have been great. It is sort of expensive but you get what you pay for really. Staff are lovely and there are plenty of options for people who don’t like fish too. Nice location on the rooftop of westgate. I’d reccomend
Great place and good food
Really good place with an amazing atmosphere… Lovely food with a lot of different options, we didn’t know what to get and we went for one of the pre-Made menu (Carpe diem), everything was perfect, well cooked and presented (just the chicken stick left as down a bit while were cold and not our favourite taste) I also tried to order a coffee but unfortunately the coffee machine wasn’t working (anyway a lot of places to get a coffee around the area) If you like sushi is definitely the right place for you👌 We will definitely be back

The service was incredible - helpful, quick, informative and polite. The food was beautifully presented, flavoursome and the menu had such a variety. We had a beautiful lunch and will definitely go back!

Disappointing service and later, customer service
I've never had to write quite a review like this so here goes... We had lunch here last Sunday. It was busy in the restaurant but it seemed to be well staffed. We had an initial confusion at the beginning as we asked whether the edamame beans from our set-meal could be brought out first, but also switched for grilled instead of boiled. All ok - and we agreed the surcharge this would incur (we were told £1 for substitutes, but to be honest it was muttered to us and I'm not sure we heard this right). Service was hit and miss. Firstly, a second set of Edamame beans turned up at the table when we already had the first lot, so we sent these back, having only ordered one. Sometimes when we wanted an extra drink or the bill we couldn't attract attention at all. Other times, like when my wife was finishing the end of her meal with food still on the last plate, a member of staff started clearing before she had finished then waited by the table to take her personal plate as soon as she put her chopsticks down - which was unpleasant and uncomfortable. As such, we decided the service charge of 12.5% was not appropriate and asked, when the bill came, to remove it so we could choose our own value. (As it hadn't been that awful, we would have paid something). The waitress disappeared off with the bill, and to my surprise, when she came back, she had re-evaluated it and added extra charges for the Edamame beans mentioned earlier. I queried this and she said it was the surcharge she mentioned earlier (she had just "forgotten" before. I don't think it is acceptable that, just because a customer declines to pay an optional 12.5% service charge, that you would vindictively re-evaluate their bill to add extra charges. Either the charges should be there or they should not. It should not matter if you pay service charge or not. Furthermore, after leaving the restaurant (while this was happening we were strapping a toddler back into a buggy) we noticed that in fact, they had charged for the Edamame beans, incorrectly, further up the bill. So she was also wrong to re-evaluate the bill. She was also wrong in the way she had charged it in the first place. We have therefore been overcharged. It's minor in terms of costs, but the nature of the way this was done has left a sour taste at the end of the meal. I have since contacted the restaurant via email to explain the situation and via the feedback form they had sent me and have had no response to either, so zero marks for customer service post - meal either. What is sad, is that the service at S+S Oxford used to be spot on, and always deserving of 12.5% service charge, but I do think it has lost its way since it first opened.

Living in London, I frequently dine at this chain of restaurants. I was so pleased to discover one when in Westgate today. From the moment I arrived the staff were so welcoming and it was a really relaxed dining experience. The food as always was fresh and authentic and I enjoyed an array of dishes, The staff here are really something special, looking forward to returning when next in Oxford ❤️
Swish, sophisticated, superb!
This is a venue we'd always fancied trying, but as Sushi novices we weren't sure it'd be a good place for vegetarians / vegans to dine at. Thankfully as soon as we were welcomed into Sticks 'n' Sushi by the excellent staff, we were put at ease and guided through ordering from the truly splendid menu (which, quite honestly, you would love to take home and just stare at, it's a work of art!) With the aid of the staff, we opted to get one of the larger platters for three of our fish / meat-eating family members, and then a vegetarian option between two of us. One thing to be clear on when you're ordering water for the table is that you will be charged if you don't state you want tap water, so definitely keep that in mind (not a problem if you're ordering other drinks but we always like water with our meals). Food arrives in stages, starting with the starter plates and sharing dishes, then the sushi / sashimi and then the hot sticks. I think just about everyone in the family had a favourite thing, and my daughter (whose birthday it was) really loved trying all the different items, very quickly establishing that the fried chicken and shrimp were utterly amazing. For the two vegetarians in our party, the choices were also excellent and really tasty (the vegetarian hot sticks made with sweet potato and tofu were incredible). By the time the third round of food arrived we were already stuffed but took our time and also ordered sweets (again, these are a real wow in terms of presentation and taste) and the restaurant also serves excellent coffee. Though it's definitely not a mid-range or budget place to eat, we felt like it was an amazing occasion and working out at around roughly £40 a head, it wasn't actually super-ridiculously expensive for the five of us and we definitely felt it was a great venue for a special birthday. I guess the only gripe - and it's a tiny tiny one - is that it gets very busy so sometimes it's difficult to catch staff's eye when you need your table clearing or need the bill, but as I said at the top of the review the staff are welcoming and friendly and extremely helpful and really good at explaining what everything is as it's brought out and you start to tuck in. You are in for a treat if you eat here both for your eyes and your tum!

My favorite restaurant is the Soho branch and this was my first visit to Oxford, equally impressive, I loved all the food especially the Beef Tataki and Hotate Ceviche. Love the ambience and low lighting and we cannot wait to return. Our server was Isla, she was friendly, attentive and super nice, a real asset to the restaurant.

I was looking for a slightly more upscale and fresh experience with sushi here in Oxford and Sticks and Sushi did not disappoint. This is an inspired menu with a lot of really great options. The menu itself, as a physical object, is breathtaking, with really lovely curated pictures of all the possible dishes. We elected to go with the Perfect Day (for two). You can assemble almost any sort of meal via their a la carte options but as a first timer, I wanted to try something that they had pre-organized. As a meal, it was almost like an omakase experience. You receive three small bites to share first (for us it was a beautiful salmon sashimi in sauce, karaage chicken, and duck spring rolls in rice paper), then the sushi portion (two sets of two nagiri, two rolls), then the "sticks" portion, their versions of yakitori (for us, pork belly with a miso glaze, salmon with teri glaze, and meatballs). There is a near infinite number of combos it seems based on the menu and you can build your own thing or, as we did, just choose the organized dish that most suits your needs. Everything was excellent. The restaurant itself was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. A couple of critical notes that might be helpful to you: this Perfect Day was brilliant and was most certainly a perfect day. Everything you could want in a big lunch. That said, it was 92 pounds for two people so, not a cheap thing. But if you are going to splurg, this was a very meaningful and satisfying experience. Second, we had a hard time getting our check at the end of the meal. It didn't ruin the experience, but our plates were cleared and we were clearly done and the check did not come. After trying to get get the staff's attention for awhile I walked up to the host and requested the check. Not the worst thing, but enough (for me, at this price point) to knock my score down to 4/5. Purely thinking of the food and the experience of the meal, this is easily 5/5. It was only that small hiccup at the end that brings it down. Highly recommended if you're out in Westgate shopping and want a brilliant sushi and "sticks" meal.

Wonderful! My parents are visiting and we have wanted to go to Nobu Malibu for years. I tried getting a reservation myself but it was next to impossible. So glad I was able to buy a reservation on appointment trader for a decent price!

Fabulous Lunch
I was veeeeeerry skeptical that this would work, particularly at a restaurant as hard to get into as Nobu Malibu, and it was perfect! We had lunch outside on the patio and it was fabulous!

Ok at this point I've attended a reservation purchased on AT by a friend and sold a reservation personally. Both worked pretty smoothly, nothing sketchy about it. A few areas for improvement including a way to more directly communicate between buyers and sellers, but the app always seems to be in development. AT customer support is really(!) responsive and helpful too if you have questions!

As a seller, I like the fact i have the ability now to transfer money out of my AT account and into a bank account. Makes getting the money much easier then the process before.

Whose name will my reservation be under when I arrive at the venue?
It can be under your name or a name you choose! Some reservation offers already include the AppointmentTrader Transfer Service which will transfer the reservation in to your name. If its not included you can add it on after buying the reservation for a small fee. One thing on that though: As many reservations become available at last minute, taking a reservation in someone else name is quick and great for privacy. Most reservations on AT are listed with a virtual phone number, so all you need to do is present the phone number at the hostess stand and you are good to go!

Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
Where do the Reservations on AppointmentTrader come from?
Mostly from people who don't need their reservations or appointments any longer. AT has no relationship with places listed and acts as a platform connecting buyers and sellers making sure that listed reservations are real and that privacy is not compromised when transacting.
What happens if my bid expires unanswered?
Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.
