Stokes Adobe Restaurant Monterey Reviews from The Last Year
I booked a table for 6 at Stokes Adobe in May the night
I booked a table for 6 at Stokes Adobe in May the night before going and found great availability for dinner. When we arrived, the architecture and history of the house-turned-restaurant amazed us and we were chuffed to find they gave us our own private room to dine in. We were able to be a little louder and enjoy the meal with friends more comfortably. The staff were very accommodating with one guest being a toddler and even provided some coloring options. We started with a few appetizers: pate on toast, caviar on fried potato, and olives. The pate was a fun eat, and the caviar was a nice treat on top of potato that was prepared more like tater tots. Both small in size, not really enough to share amongst the group except in small bites. Would be better to share between 2-4 people or double the plates for groups. We all loved the description of each pizza, so we got one of each to share! Each guest agreed that the merguez sausage pizza was the favorite, with honorable mentions to the cacio e Pepe pizza. We loved the deep, complex flavors from the merguez, and the pepper topping on the cacio e Pepe. Our dinner at Stokes Adobe went smoothly, was very enjoyable, and overflowed with cocktails and orange wine. We had a great time with friends here!

Although the portions were smaller than expected, the pasta, pizza and the steak were all delicious and of highest quality.

This review is long overdue! We are locals and this is our favorite restaurant hands down. Food is always delicious and service is warm. The space is beautiful as well. We hosted a private party in one of their dining rooms and it was perfect. Our guests couldn't stop raving about everything. Love the outdoor fire pits, gives a really cozy vibe.
Lovely historic setting in downtown Monterey.
They have a parking lot in the back so there was no hassle parking. We were greeted upon arrival and shown to our booth upstairs. Our server was great - friendly and attentive, but never intrusive. Both of our meals were delicious, although the chef is a bit heavy-handed with the salt IMO. The starter salad we ordered was enough to share. My husband had the fettuccine which was a perfect portion and delicious. I had the chicken which I enjoyed. We shared the lemon cake dessert which was moist and yummy. Great place for a romantic dinner.
It was great to see the return of Stokes Adobe.
This restaurant looks like it has gone through a slight remodel and the outside patio is pleasing as well. The Waiter was really attentive and was able to set up my order quickly. I got here for happy hour at 4 PM and order a cocktail and a small appetizer. The bourbon cocktail was $12 and the appetizer, duck liver mousse Pate. I believe this was $14. Great to just lounge outside before my meeting.

The menu selection is limited, but every single dish is prepared extremely well. My favorite dish is there tagliatelle pasta. The waiter was very attentive. The historic adobe is spacious with lots of nooks and crannies where you have potential for private dining group outdoor seatings on a beautiful summer dayoffers other unique perspectives.
Came for a late night dinner and was not disappointed.
It was absolutely my favorite meal of the trip. I loved the history of the building and how it functions as a restaurant now. The service was fantastic. We were checked on regularly and everyone was very friendly. The food and drinks were delicious! Highlight of the meal was the tagliatelle bolognese. The fresh pasta was chefs kiss! It was the best pasta I've had in a long time. There is plentiful seating here making it great for large parties. I will definitely be thinking about this meal for a long time. Can't wait to go back!
Came for happy hour and it did not disappoint.
The outside patio looked really cute, but it was extra windy when we went so we decided to dine inside. Upon entering, the hostess was really friendly and had us seated right away. Our server was also super cool and nice. Also-- whoever was in charge of the aux cord understood the assignment! They were playing everything from Sade to Amy Winehouse and it really set the tone and vibes. Drinks were strong, well-made, and pretty to look at. Cocktails we ordered: * Tamarind Margarita ($12) * Bonal Cup ($12) - get this if you enjoy ginger beer! * Waldorf ($12) * House Old Fashioned ($16) - really good! Food: * HH Mixed Baby Greens Salad ($12) * HH Duck Liver Mousse Toast ($14) - not the biggest fan of liver, but wow all of the different flavors worked so well together! * HH Merguez Sausage Pizza ($26) - This was tasty, but I was still yearning for some tomato sauce. Couldn't really taste the eggplant. There seemed to be a discrepancy in the pricing that I didn't notice until after we left. The pizza is listed as $26, but on the receipt we were charged $28. So just something to be aware of. Other than that, this was a great place to catch up with friends or have a date night!
Nice ambience.
House has lots of history. Part of a nighttime Monterey Ghost tour. Dinner was delicious. Wait staff attentive. Nice selection. Seasonal menu. Would definitely come back again. Highly recommend.

Our first time to Stokes Adobe but definitely won't be the last! This place is a must if you want a romantic evening with delicious food and staff making sure you are cared for. The scallops were prepared perfectly and the best chicken I have ever had! Try the potato caviar appetizer and the mixed green salad too! You will definitely enjoy this restaurant!
