🤮 1/5 - I am half Korean and half Japanese.

Today, I had a lunch here with my mother, who is full Korean. During entire hour of having omakase, we were talking in Korean enjoying our meal. At the end, when it was time for us to pay, the owner called a Korean chef to come out to ask us in Korean whether it is truly me who made a reservation because the reservation was under my name (Japanese) and we were speaking in Korean - his tone was very confrontational as if we were "dine and ditching." The chef said the restaurant had dealt with a situation.. a person dined for free using a different person's name(?) so they had to be cautious. When I told the chef the reason why my name is Japanese is because my father is Japanese, and that I was speaking Korean because my mother is Korean, the chef and his staff apologized. I had never experienced racism like this in LA. Thank you for ruining our mother-daughter time!
