Cute place, but too bright. We went for dinner, and two of us ordered the regular tasting menu, while one had the pescatarian menu (only 1 course was different). The server brought out some finger food first (not listed on the menu). We started with green apple slices paired with a soft cheese (good). Then came the fried cardoon (artichoke stalks) with a sauce on the side, also pretty good. Next was a mushroom broth, which was very tasty. The bread that came with it was served warm and was so soft and delicious (the serve said it's made at a bakery in Logan Square). The first course from the menu was pumpkin velouté with cream and mushrooms. That was my favorite part of the meal - thick, rich and surprisingly filling. After that, we had the scallops (served with lime and orange). My friends liked them, but I did not (not a fan of raw scallops). The steak came next, which was okay. Before it came out, the server informed us that the chef prepares it medium rare, and asked if that was okay with us. I asked for medium, and she said there are no substitutions/they don't do that. I guess I could have had the mushroom course instead (which was on the pescatarian menu), but I just said that was fine. The steak was okay. The dessert was a lemon curd, which I thought was pretty good. Wine list was a little different - some from Michigan, New York, California. Service was good - attentive.
